Tumble in the hay

The title of this post is inspired by the stunning Tumble head from Catwa. I want to say this is a “new” release, but with how quickly she’s been releasing gorgeous new heads, it’s not that new anymore! So we’ll call it a “recent” release instead. What I love about Tumble is that it has this elegance and sophistication to it. Clean lines, smaller eyes than some of her more recent heads, a lovely nose… it feels very mature. And it works well with so many of the appliers I’ve tried it with so far! In this pic I am wearing Merry from DeeTaleZ in Nordic, and I think it lends a bit of soft sweetness to this face. I’m also wearing one of Exile’s two new releases for the current round of Collabor88.

Tumble in the hay

My cute top is also at Collabor88, from Blueberry. It comes in a wide variety of colors and the cropped tank underneath can be turned off and recolored, too, via the HUD. My comfy cords are new from Neve, and there are four color options. You can also hide the belt. You’ll find this – along with the rest of the first of Neve’s autumn collection – at their Mainstore. Finally, the shoes I’m wearing are by Reign (also at Collabor88) and… omg they look like they’d be so soft and comfy to actually wear in RL. And I say this as a devout (RL) shoe hater!

Harvest Time

On a final note, the talented Prue Genira is accepting clients for photography and did this gorgeous pic of me last night. It came out so pretty I had to ask if it would be okay to include here. If you’re in need of a new profile pic or portrait, definitely check out Prue’s work!

Chocolate Desires

Chocolate is a serious thing. ~Deanna Troi

I very much believe Counselor Troi had the right idea where chocolate was concerned. I mean, it is a serious thing. So the Artisan Fantasy Chocolate Shoppe set for The Epiphany, with all its goodies, spoke to me right away. I mean, c’mon! Truffles… boxes of beautifully wrapped chocolate gifts. I love the wrappings just as much as the chocolates insides sometimes! It’s fun. It feels so posh to buy a box of Godiva all beautifully wrapped for the holiday (whichever one it happens to be!). The cute polka dot lingerie I’m wearing are common items from Blueberry’s Epiphany set, the gorgeous bed is from Sway’s. It was at the December round of Uber, so if it’s not yet in her Mainstore, I imagine it should be soon. The chair in the little room behind me is from Brocante, but through tomorrow you can grab it at the Love To Decorate event. Brocante is the new name for collaborations between floorplan and Consignment, and Brocante items can be found here, along with floorplan’s items. The fawn over the chair is at the floorplan mainstore, and the sign over the bed is a floorplan release for Collabor88. My sparkly, glittery hair is from Olive for The Epiphany. I love the sexy, bedhead look of this one!

The Epiphany

The Epiphany opened this week, and if you haven’t gone yet you are definitely missing out. This is the third round of this wonderful event, and it’s just getting better! If you’re not familiar with what makes The Epiphany different from other gacha events, you can read about it here. But just a quick overview, if you’re a fellow gacha addict, you know you often get stuck with extra copies of the same item that you can’t use or don’t want for whatever reason. Well, with The Epiphany you can save your item or redeem it for points. Those points can then be cashed in to get designer exclusives that will not be available after the event ends! Items you choose to keep can still be transferred, so you can change your mind and give them away or sell them, too.

This time all of the designers have their exclusives next to their machines at the event, but also at their Mainstores! The official blog has a complete list of stores with slurls to make life easier for you, so be sure to check that out, too!

I started off by blogging pieces of the beautiful Valentine’s Blush set from Stockholm & Lima! I also stuck a box of macarons from Half-Deer’s adorable Macaron Dream Buffet set in the scene, and I’m wearing the macaron necklace that is Half-Deer’s exclusive item. I’m also wearing one of the lovely Doe hairs from the event. My outfit is a combo of Blueberry and Just Because. The top is from Just Because, and you’ll find it at the Mesh Addicts event. The jeans are from Blueberry, and it’s funny because I was so excited the top fit so wonderfully over these jeans, and then realized they’re the jeans from the sweater ad!

I Will Remember You

More from The Epiphany coming soon! So stay tuned. And thank you, to readers and designers alike, for standing by me during the difficult time I just went through with my grandmother’s illness and subsequent death. I particularly am grateful to the designers who have stood by me with patience and support and understanding. It’s been an unbelievably rough couple of months, especially since this happened during the holidays (not that there’s ever a great time, but it did make it that much harder). While grief is something I know I’ll feel for quite some time yet, I’m feeling like at least I’m at a point where I can channel some of my sadness and emotions here. So thank you for sticking by me, and for the kind words so many of you have given me. I really appreciate it, more than I could say, and I will never forget those who have stood by me during such a tough time. ❤

The blogger’s closet

Festival Of Sin II has been so much fun so far! It’s winding down, and closes September 5th, so I wanted to share some goodies from the event before it’s over!

I love the hair MINA did for Lust. It’s so lush and sexy. The shoes from fri.day for Vanity are gorgeous, sexy and versatile. I’ve paired them with a stunning new release from coldLogic’s new brand neve (more on neve to come soon!). This dress is so pretty, with its lacy texture and (though they’re covered by my hair here) dainty straps. I’m using Exposeur’s glam Luxury Closet gacha for Greed at FOS II as a backdrop for this look. I thought it did a pretty great job of representing what a blogger’s closet might look like, if SL bloggers actually had closets and not inventories. Though come to think of it, mine would probably be more cluttered and less organized! 😛

The Blogger's Closet

In this picture, I’m wearing Blueberry’s recently released yoga pants with items from Uber. My top is Miss Chelsea and my hair is Truth, and both can be found at Uber. The gym bag next to me, by Bueno, is also at Uber. My sleepy koala friend is by +Pepper+ and is at Festival Of Sin II in Sloth. The beautiful barn I’m using as my yoga studio is from Pixel Mode’s Arcade release. This release has NO rares! Even this gorgeous barn build is a common. The Arcade is now open, and runs all month so if you can’t get in yet, don’t fret! You have time.

Koalas can sleep through anything

I was honored to be chosen as a Hottie Cooterati staff blogger, so I’ve blogged some pics over there, but I wanted to share them here, too.

This one was taken on the FOS II sim, in the Sloth section with a fellow FOS II blogger. The builds are spectacular, and honestly it’s worth going for that alone, but there are so many goodies to be had, too. You can read the full credits on this post here.

Seen at the Sloth Motel

This one features Schadenfreude’s Acedia table, which comes in a clean version, too. I also have one of Anya Ohmai’s free sponsor gifts featured here, a snow globe designed for Hopscotch. You can read all about this post here.

Spiders in the attic

Finally, in this picture I’m wearing Alice Project’s sexy bedhead hair for Lust, Baiastice’s stunning gown for Vanity and Cae’s serpent bracelet for Envy, along with one of her gacha rings for Greed. You can get all the details here.

Meteor Watching

I love the Perseid meteor shower. Every year, weather permitting, I stay up late and try to see a few “shooting stars” go by. I was able to see 3 through a somewhat clouded over sky the other night here in Colorado. I had hoped to see more last night, but the sky was too cloudy. So instead, I settled for creating a cozy scene where I could imagine settling down to watch them in SL. So I set up this gorgeous new set from Cheeky Pea that is available at the Love To Decorate event, and I settled in on my couch of hay bales to watch the skies. I’m wearing Foxes nightie from Collabor88’s birthday round. I bought it in a starry print and it seemed perfect!

Meteor watching

If you get the chance, and they are visible where you live, definitely check out the meteors. It’s a really awesome experience. Well, at least for a nerdy dreamer like myself!

Luscious Freya

I was really excited when Belleza updated their Venus mesh body and included two new versions. Isis and Freya are the new builds. Freya is my absolute favorite. The curves are gorgeous and for anyone looking for a fuller figure in SL, this is a must-try. I’m particularly in love with the legs on this body. It is important to note, however, that Freya will require clothing made specifically for it. Your standard size large (what I wear on the rare occasions I’m not in a mesh body) will not fit on Freya. Fear not, though, as designers are already beginning to make clothes that fit Freya’s unique proportions. I don’t know all of the stores making them, but I do know both Blueberry and Foxes are. Definitely be sure to try demos, to make sure the item in question has a version for this body!

In the pic below, I’m wearing a rather sultry dress that’s a recent release from Blueberry!

Baby I'll change, my mind

I’m also wearing one of LeLutka’s new release for Hair Fair 2015. This event is winding down… it ends on July 26th (which is also Bandana Day). Remember, Hair Fair is a charity event, raising funds for Wigs For Kids! The gorgeous skin I have on is PXL for Wayward Carnival. My beautiful necklace, based on Hermione’s Time Turner in The Prisoner of Azkaban, is from Cae for Wizarding Faire 2015. This event is also coming to an end this weekend; July 25th is the final day. Oh, and my eyes are Buzzeri’s new release for the new Epiphany gacha event.

Reverse

A few final notes about the new Belleza bodies… they include an updated hud, with a lot more alpha cuts, a (very) improved fit around the neck, alpha save slots and some really cool features that, to be honest, I’m still learning! You can read more about the update on Belleza’s site. Please note that this post is NSFW!

Mesh Body Comparisons

I began this post a while ago and have had the draft saved. Since I can’t type much, now seemed like a good time to finish it up.

I’ve wanted to do a mesh body comparison post for a while, but I was finally prompted by the recently updated SLink Physique body (the heads, hands and feet all have updates, too, if you missed them). Before this update I honestly didn’t feel the Physique flattered my curvier build. While I thought it looked lovely on my more slender friends, it just didn’t work for me. But that is over! The updated body works very nicely with my curves, as you will see below. I will say, however, it is a more athletic build than either Belleza’s Venus or Maitreya’s Lara bodies. So if that’s something that appeals to you, then Physique is the body for you.

It should be noted that, for the sake of this comparison post, I am wearing the same shape with all three bodies. I have shapes for each of the bodies that have been tweaked to meet my needs, but for this I wanted you to see the differences amongst the same shape. Click through to Flickr to see the comps bigger.

I wanted to show side-by-side comparisons that highlight the things I find most important in a mesh body: Thighs, butt, breasts and belly. This first comp shows off the breasts and belly nicely, as well as the thighs. My favorite thighs, belly and breasts are all on the Lara body. This is really just a matter of my preferring a softer build, over a more athletic one like the Physique offers. However, I feel that Physique is a close second, especially on the thighs and belly.

Body Comparison: Side View

Next, the rear view! I’d say that, for me and what I’m looking for, Lara and Physique tie here, while Venus is behind both (no pun intended).

Body Comparison: Butts!

Lara was also recently updated to have more alpha cuts, and like the updated Physique there are slots where you can save alpha cuts. This is really helpful, and has made me more inclined to wear a mesh body because, honestly, I am lazy and changing alpha cuts is tedious. Venus does not offer nearly as many alpha cuts, which can make it harder to fit clothes not made exclusively for it. However, there are a lot of stores offering clothes to fit the body, so if you prefer Venus just shop around to find designers making clothing for it. As for appliers, both Maitreya’s body and Belleza’s body will work with the Omega system, but Physique does not. Again, this isn’t too much of an issue since a lot of stores have appliers specifically for Physique, but it is worth noting. With the Maitreya body, though there are designers releasing clothing for it, the official developer kit hasn’t been released, so designers are, to an extent, guessing on fit… and sometimes this does show with inexact fits. Now, that being said I run into more issues than most because I also happen to wear a standard size large and my “fit mesh” shape is even curvier than my standard sizing shape. Theoretically with fitted mesh that shouldn’t make a difference, but in reality it does seem to. However, I haven’t had too many issues. Still, if you wear an unconventional shape you absolutely want to demo everything (really a good policy regardless).

Another thing worth noting is that if you wear a Belleza skin, you will definitely want to consider Venus, as Belleza does not offer appliers for any of the other mesh bodies. You’ll have to hand tint if you choose to go with a Belleza skin and a different designer’s body. Hopefully that’s something Belleza will change in the future. Speaking of skins, Maitreya partnered with Glam Affair, so their hud has all of the Glam skin tones preloaded, which is a definite perk if you’re inclined to mostly (or always) wear Glam Affair. I wear Glam skins more than any other skins, so I definitely do consider that a bonus. But I’m a skin addict, and I jump around and plenty of the skins I wear offer appliers for all three of these bodies. Physique includes a skin with purchase, which is also nice. With Physique, you do need to remember that the SLink hands and feet are sold separately. Venus and Lara both come with hands and feet. Lara’s hands have only one basic position, while Venus comes with a very nice, wide array of hand positions. However, both Venus and Lara will work with the SLink hands and feet (just be sure to use the XS size, regardless of your normal, non-mesh body size).

My advice to anyone who hasn’t picked a body yet is to grab demos and wear them for a while. Try all the alpha options with your favorite clothes and see how they work before buying, so you know you’ve made the right choice. For me, it’s all about Lara and Physique, in that order, while at this point I really only use Venus if I’m wearing a Belleza skin because tinting by hand is inexact, to say the least, and annoying.

I am slowly starting to wear the mesh bodies more often, but I’m definitely not a full-timer yet. I still find them to be a bit tedious and time consuming, though the ability to save alpha cut combos definitely helps. However, the lure of these bodies is how beautiful they are, unlike the standard avatar. So, it’s definitely something I see myself using more and more as time passes.

Skin Fair 2015

Now that the weekend crowds have settled a bit, this is an excellent time to check out what is one of my favorite events of the year… yep, Skin Fair 2015 is open! With two sims full of beautiful skins, this is a skin addict’s fantasy come true.

Flounce has three new faces, but my favorite was Sera. I liked the lips, as I felt they were a bit different than many you see in SL. My eyes are another find at Skin Fair. This year there are tattoo creators, makeup creators and yes, even eye creators at Skin Fair. These are from Adored. I am really fussy about eyes. I wore the same brand for years and I wound up really tired of them, so I began the hunt for something different and new. I’ve been wearing Buzzeri ever since, and I do love my Buzz eyes. But I also don’t want to be in a rut, so when I saw these I was intrigued and decided to try them. These definitely pass the Lucie Is Picky About Eyes exam, and I will absolutely be wearing them again. In fact, I’m wearing another pair from the same line in my next pic!

Sera by Flounce

Belleza is among the many more familiar stores to have a new face at this event. Tess has really pouty lips, which I always like. The gorgeous necklace I have on is from Cae for the current Fit For A Princess. Here you also see another pair of the Adored Moon eyes you can find in the Adored boot at Skin Fair. Aren’t they stunning?

Dressed in jewels

The second of these pictures was taken at Harlow Heslop’s absolutely stunning sim Blithe. You can read more about Blithe on Harlow’s blog here. For a small fee you can join the group to have rezz rights, which is absolutely awesome for us bloggers.

I will have more from Skin Fair soon, so stay tuned! In the meantime, for all the details, including maps and slurls, please see this post on the official SKin Fair blog.

You shall not pass us!

So last night, I got together with a fellow blogger, and just sort of randomly decided to shoot a pic. It was like 1 am, but we had on these gorgeous corsets from Enfant Terrible for We ❤ Role-Play, and it just sort of grew from there. The final look was one designed to inspire both longing and fear!
