No good can come of this

I have to confess something. In real life I despise shoes. I hate them with every fiber of my being. I resent having to wear them. I live in flip flops as long as I can get away with it. Or slip on clogs (that have no heel). Shoes and I have been enemies for many years. I’m blister prone and klutzy. I see shoes as foot prison. Boots are even worse because they trap part of the leg, too. And don’t even get me started on socks!

But in Second Life? I love shoes. LOVE. I think I live out all of my shoe fantasies here. When I saw the Gos Boutique Bonnie shoes for Shoetopia, I knew I’d found a pair I could not possibly pass on. I don’t typically think of Lucie as “badass” but gun shoes?! How could I not own these! The detail on these shoes is spectacular. You can also hide the bullet strap. And of course, like all Gos Boutique shoes, they have the easy color match system so you don’t need to spend hours trying to match your feet. Oh, and these pants are from from Cracked Mirror for FaMESHed and they do make quite the impression. My jacket is part of an outfit Sakide has at the Rockabilly Fashion Fair. It has a hud and a lot of options for metals and the back artwork.

No good can come of this

Here’s a better look! In this picture you can also see the gorgeous Bali anklet available from Cae’s Shoetopia gacha.

Bonnie by Gos Boutique for Shoetopia

Remember, Shoetopia isn’t just the shoe shopping event of the season. It’s also a fundraiser for Soles 4 Souls, an organization that is helping, among others, the typhoon victims in the Philippines. This is a great charity, and it’s a chance to have fun shopping while also helping others.

50 Shades… week 5

So, since I’ve been sick for the past few weeks I am behind on, well… life. I still need to do Week 4 of the 50 Shades Of Sexy challenge, but I wanted to do Bad Romance (week 5) first. Why? Well, for a couple of reasons. One is that I had the idea for this picture back in October. I thought to do it for Halloween, but then things got hectic and I didn’t get to it. It didn’t really feel very “winter holidays” festive, so I didn’t do it for the rest of the year, either. But when I saw this prompt, I knew I’d do it. So Pour Some Sugar On Me will be done another time, hopefully soon.

I was inspired by this sexy, yet somehow innocent ensemble from Blacklace. The wings are meant to be worn, of course. But for my “Fallen Angel” look, as you’ll soon see, I decided they’d be nearby. My alt Luciella is the “bad girl” in this picture. I think of her as the Angel Of Lust. 😉 At any rate, her sexy outfit is from Cracked Mirror.

Fallen Angel

I couldn’t resist the urge to have my halo around Luciella’s cute little tail. Both of these skins are in gachas at PXL. The one Luciella has on is from the new 7 Sins series, and the one I’m wearing is China Doll from one of the other gacha vendors at PXL.

Bad Romance

While I was editing these pics, I was listening to a Melissa Etheridge playlist on Spotify. The song Angels Will Fall came on, and it seemed rather appropriate. You can watch/listen to it here, and/or read the lyrics here.

Oh, and I’ll be wearing this look at the first of the 50 Shades Events this Saturday night at The Library.

Tis the season!

There are so many fun, festive things happening in SL right now. It’s kind of overwhelming, but in a good way!

The RFL Christmas Expo is one of these things. I have to say, they’ve done a beautiful job designing the sims for this event. You can see some of the amazing work in this photo gallery by Wildstar Beaumont.

In the first two pics, you can see the gorgeous Christmas fireplace that Prime has out for the Expo. It’s beautifully detailed, and has adorable little side seats with built in poses. My cute little Christmas tree earrings from Sax Shepherd Designs are also a RFL Christmas Expo find!

Christmas Contemplation

This is a must have piece for any Christmas decor fan! My mesh PJs are from Cracked Mirror, in Sprinkles, and you can find them at The Arcade. I love these jammies and I have them in a lot of colors, so you’ll likely see ’em again! The adorable ponytails are Dolly in blood from a recent Truth hair release.

Waiting for Santa

At The Arcade, it seems they tried to keep things more winter-y and less Christmas-y. Since not everyone celebrates Christmas this makes sense. But there are some adorable festive items to be had nonetheless, if you get so lucky! Here’s a look at some of my favorites. The adorable clock is one of many from Sway’s. They represent different seasons, and they are all seriously cute. The snowglobe with the pretty little cardinals is from A.D.D. Andel! and it’s one of the rares. I absolutely adored this one, and I knew it had to go on my mantle right away! Like the Sway’s clocks, the snowglobes come in many different “scenes” that are seasonal. I know I will be swapping snowglobes all year! The adorable Welcome sign is one of What Next’s items. It’s also a rare one, and while not overtly Christmas-y, with the snowy scene and green and red trim, it’s a clear match to my Christmas cabin!

Arcade Christmas Collage

In this next picture, you can see my little Christmas village. Pilot has these adorable little houses and landscaping items in their Arcade gachas. There’s a table to display it on that is rare, but after like 20+ tries, I decided to give up and make my own version of the village on my What Next Laurel Cottage console table. I used the What Next Amalfi string fairylights to spruce it up and make it more festive, and I was pleased with how it looked when I was done. The top left building is the rare Primrose Cottage, which is very cute, but to be honest, I love the Springfield one on the right even more. I can’t believe the level of detail work in these little houses. They are gorgeous. They are also relatively low prim/land impact (still not used to using LI!), so they are a great way to make your home more festive without taking up a ton of prims!

Christmas Village Collage

That’s all she wrote, folks… more from me soon, though.

FaMESHed November

If you haven’t stopped by the November edition of FaMESHed yet, definitely make a point to check it out. There’s a new build and new location, and lots of gorgeous goodies to be had. I’m going to share some of my favorites.

This shirt and sweater vest from Cracked Mirror is technically intended as a dress, but I paired it with cute mesh jeans from Evolve. The top is available at FaMESHed, and I bought the blue argyle. Much to my delight, you also get a white version of the shirt, which is what I am wearing here. The hair is also a FaMESHed item, from Wasabi Pills. It’s seriously adorable, and one of those styles that I love for its versatility. It could easily be dressed up, but here you can see it on me in all my comfy, casual glory. I tend to find the reds from Wasabi Pills aren’t quite the shade I’d like, but fortunately you can mod their hair, so I always tint it to make it more like my preferred shade of red (yes, even the rigged mesh – you just have to rezz it to do so. It should be noted that with this headband you have to use select face to select just that and tint it back to white after tinting the entire hair. This technique works on most rigged mesh hair with built in accessories.).

Argyle & Denim

Something about this look made me think “college co-ed.” I felt stylish, but in a very easy, simple way. I added my new Metal Stripe nails from Izzie’s for some pizzazz and fun. My eyes are from the new Eternal line at IKON. I am really over the moon about this line. It has an element of realism that I love, and there are so many awesome colors. In this pic I am wearing the blue-gray.

The co-ed

My other FaMESHed look features separates from Valentina E. Couture. I really love this store’s items. They are original, creative and the detail work is stunning. These pieces with their military-design-as-fashion feel wanted an urban, grungy type of setting. I asked my reliable friends on Plurk, and someone suggested I check Tobacco Road. This sim was perfect, and just as a bonus, I was able to rezz my Madman’s Blue Box from Hopscotch. For those who aren’t fans, this recent release (it was at Cinema) is inspired by the amazing show Doctor Who. I’m a huge fan of Doctor Who, so I was thrilled to use this prop. My boots are from Miel… and the color perfectly matched the Mountie shade of the skirt and jacket.

This first pose in the prop makes me think of when the TARDIS has first landed, and you’re never sure what you might find outside the doors! I went a little artsy (for me) with this pic. The prop and the outfit just lent themselves to a more creative look.

Take a look

In this pic, I imagine I’ve somehow been separated from the Doctor… and I am waiting for him to come back so we can get the hell off this crazy planet, or out of this crazy time.

Waiting for the Doctor

Finally, I wanted to do a simple (though hopefully dramatic) closeup, both to show off my new skin from Belleza and this gorgeous jewelry by Cae. Oh, and another pair of the new Eternal eyes, this time in Pewter. When Belleza released the Shyla skin some months back, I debated it. I decided against it at the time, but I’ve been drawn to it ever since. I’ve never owned a Belleza skin before. I kind of felt like the last holdout! Shyla won me over, though. I adore the lips on this skin in particular, and since there are tattoo add ons for it, I was a goner. After I bought this skin, I made a vow to not buy any skins for a month! Eep.

Shyla & Cae

Here’s a link to the new location for FaMESHed. Be sure to check it out before the month is over!

Blogger Challenges · iheartslFeed · Raid Your Closet

Better late than never!

So my final installment of the Raid Your Closet Challenge is nearly a week late. Uhm. Oops. I have some sort of self-imposed hatred of deadlines or something, I think. Even when they are my own damn deadlines.

For this final post, I remembered to take out a pair of shoes I utterly love but for some reason, never seem to wear! The Moxie shoes from Maitreya, which break the “no sandals and socks” rule in the best (and really only acceptable) way possible! I decided to relax by the fire in my autumn porch set from What Next.

Halloween Idyll

I wore my Elena skin by Izzie’s that I love so much, but I paired it with one of the matte Dailyn lips because they are so bold. This hair from Shag is an old favorite that I’ve had over a year.

Moody Purple

These cute shorts are from G Field. I bought them months ago and this is literally the first time I’ve worn ’em. *facepalms* The top is from Cracked Mirror, and it’s cleverly named “Poe.” The future English teacher in me really loved that!

Poe

This challenge was so much fun to do again (even if I’m a week late on my final look). I might have to dust this one off again sometime down the road. Thank you to all who participated. I hope you had as much fun with it as I did!

Cinema Quickie

This is a quickie… but full of Cinematic thrills.

This bed is from MudHoney. It’s part of the luxurious Priya line, as is the dance stool at the foot of the bed. These items can be found in the XXX theater at Cinema. The bed is available in “adult” or “PG” versions. The texture change menu allows you to change the comforter, blanket, wood, pillows and headboard colors. It’s highly customizable, and really stunningly made. This autumn skybox is from A:S:S and was a Lazy Sunday offering this past weekend. It’s a gorgeous skybox, and definitely worth checking out. The dressing screen and garment rack are also from the Priya series, and were a recent Fifty Linden Friday offering at MudHoney. Completing the MudHoney decor is the framed postcard art I love so much. It’s vintage-y and adorable.

Cinema Mudhoney

This bed is so comfy… perfect place to unwind at the end of a long day. I just grabbed my laptop and curled up in some ruffled panties from Cracked Mirror that I also snagged at Cinema. My stunning tattoo is from Collisions, and I got that at Cinema, too!

End of the day...

And now… to work on my Raid Your Closet look! Stay tuned for that, and for so much from Cinema.

Raid Your Closet Week 1!

As you may have heard, I’ve brought back a challenge I began last October. The goal of this challenge is to get us to raid our inventories (aka closets) for items we already owned before the month began! The “official” posting day of this challenge is Monday. There are five Mondays in October, so that means a total of five posts for this Raid Your Closet Challenge. However, by all means, you are welcome to do more posts if you so choose! Last year, I wasn’t yet a blogger… in fact, it was the RYCC that turned me into one! It began as a Flickr/Plurk challenge, and I had so much fun I did it until the middle of December! After that, I was “microblogging” regularly. I never would’ve guessed I’d become a “formal” Second Life blogger. It just wasn’t something that I’d ever even considered. There are so many tremendously talented SL bloggers, after all… but I am glad I decided to take the chance. Which brings me to my first pic.

I loved this tattoo from NiNight Creations. “Believe in yourself” is such a positive message, and if I hadn’t believed in myself, I wouldn’t be posting this right now. I’ve already seen several of your posts, and I’m overwhelmed that people want to do my challenge! It’s fun, and exciting for me. The gorgeous skin in these pics is the new face from Aeva, Yves. This is the “bare” version in tone 1. I added an elymode tattoo layer, so I am wearing some frosty eyeshadow and light blush. I also snagged these eyelashes from Gaeline Creations after seeing them on Sileny’s first RYCC post. Thankfully, she published it yesterday, so I managed to buy them just in the nick of time for the RYCC cutoff! They are hud controlled which makes editing them so much easier. Plus, you can manually edit one eye and click a button on the hud to get the other eye to match exactly! Absolutely genius! These eyes are from IKON’s new Kaleido series. I was a little reserved about this series at first, as when you zoom way in they are really quirky and unusual. I thought they might be too over-the-top for me… but I decided to try a pair and fell in love!

Yves by Aeva

I haven’t been feeling great, and for some reason I struggled today to put together a look I liked. But when I finally figured it out, I was really happy with this fun, cropped top from Cracked Mirror and the tulip skirt from Sn@tch. I added my always trusty and oft worn Gos Pimp Your Pumps point platform shoes and my grey Frenched nails from RezIpsa Loc and was really pleased. The hair is Alice Project. If you are someone who loves to change hair colors often, you really just must check out Alice Project. Her Infinity hairstyles include this hud that is just loaded with colors. For me, it comes in really handy because although I am almost always a redhead, I do like to play sometimes… but more to the point, I can’t always be a redhead in our store ads! That would be really boring. This hair is called Marie, and I love how it’s long and sweeping, but stays so nicely out of the way of clothing! The greys of this look suited my mood… which oddly enough perked up considerably once I’d finalized my look.

RYCC Week 1

One of the goals of this challenge is to make each look as unique as possible. But you can also list exceptions. For example, my wedding band, which Rad made for me (based on the RL band he put on my RL finger in April 2004), is something I am rarely without. I also will repeat lashes and possibly my shape. I make shapes, and am almost always in my own unique shape, but sometimes I model ones we sell, too. You can create your own exceptions… just be sure to tell us what they are!

On a final note, I am going to try to push this challenge a little further. Like many SL bloggers, I am often given previews to blog. These things are, obviously, going to be new in many cases… and so they don’t qualify for the rules of this challenge. However, when I do post them, I plan to style these items with all things I owned before today! We’ll see how I do, and if I can resist the temptation to blog new things!

Please feel free to share the link to your posts in the comments of this one! ❤ You can also add your pics to the RYCC Flickr group.
