Snapback

So this post is a very long time in the making. As soon as I heard Old Dominion’s song Snapback, I knew I wanted to do a blog post inspired by the look the singer describes. I knew Truth had just released a perfect hair for it. But life happened, and other things got in the way and I only finally, months later, decided it was time. I was gonna do it! Especially after I saw that they got the look SO wrong in the music video (linked at the end), I had to do it.

And I mean, these new(ish) shorts from Neve were perfect. They were inspired by Dirty Dancing, but the cutoff, wornout version just seemed made for this look. And frankly, just being inspired by a movie made them perfect for my new challenge itself (more about that in a moment)!

Snapback

In case you’re wondering, these were the lyrics that inspired this look.

Those stars need to be wished on
Your skin needs to be kissed on
My eyes baby, they’re fixed on you
In your snapback
T-shirt of your favourite rock band
Checking your makeup in my Ray Bans
Breaking hearts like only you can
In your snapback

This also felt like it required a romantic moment, so I grabbed my alt and voila!

Kissing you would hit the spot with me

I’ve got a LOT of these sorts of ideas… so I thought about it, and decided to create a very informal challenge for it, complete with a group called Inspired By Words: Second Life. If you have any pics inspired by words – whether from songs, books, poems, movies – feel free to add them to this group! Just be sure to let us know what inspired you. I am gonna aim to do one of these at least once a month because they’re fun!

Here’s the link to the video. It may not play if you’re outside the US, but you can read the lyrics here. Also, for those who haven’t heard it before, “snapback” is a nickname for that sort of baseball cap because they often involve plastic snaps.

The prodigal blogger returns

Hi! I’m back… and I hope all of you in the US had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ours was quiet and lovely, just the way I like it.

So today I want to talk about the amazing Tannenbaum Market that opened this past week and runs through December 25th. This event features awesome designers with lovely holiday and winter goodies. There’s also one of the coolest gacha ideas I’ve ever seen… but I’ll get to that in a moment.

First, my outfit. It’s Valentina E. Couture, the sweater top is optional (the dress itself is strapless) and it comes in 4 colors. I chose the evergreen, and paired it with Ingenue’s cozy socks and flats. I love these socks because they have cuffs that are fitted to the Maitreya body (and also SLink Physique, fitted mesh and unrigged versions). I suck at resizing things, and with my fuller figured av, I always have to. The shoes are so cute and they look comfy as hell. I want a pair in RL, tbh. My wreath of lights is from Ohmai, also at Tannenabaum. It’s texture change and there is an unlit version, too.

Tis the season

Now, about the tree and the gachas at Tannenbaum. The tree is undecorated, in the stand, and was made by Botanical, and is available for sale for just L$250. It’s well worth it, as it’s gorgeous. But beyond that, the gachas are ornaments and decor designed especially for this tree! Which makes it easier to decorate. I love this idea so much. I love the concept that friends and SL families can come together, each with their own ornaments and decorate as a group. It adds a level of realism to a virtual world that I never even thought of before, but it’s such a lovely touch. I know some of you are gacha weary, and I feel strongly that they have their time and place (like gacha exclusive events such as The Epiphany or The Arcade), but this one is SO sweet and lovely. It was a brilliant idea, and I hope others have fun with it. I’ll be doing closeups of the ornaments featured on the tree in a later post because they’re too beautiful not to be seen close up.

The stockings on the mantle are from Lost Junction, also at Tannenbaum. I love the shape, the colors… they’re super adorable and realistic looking.

More soon…

Gathering Warmth

Sometimes when I create scenes for vendor ads for Repose, I wind up liking them enough that I want to blog them. This was one such case, and since I promised in yesterday’s post to show y’all a close up of the outfit I was wearing, this seemed like a great opportunity. I’m wearing a top and leggings from coldLogic’s newest release for their new brand Neve. I love these new releases because they include huds with different color options for each version of top, dress, bottom, etc. Plus, for things with layers, like this adorable top, there’s an option to change the color of the undershirt separately. I was going for a decidedly autumnal vibe with my pumpkin shade for the leggings and the green top. My alt is wearing FATEwear, which always compliments the colors of coldLogic’s releases perfectly!

Gathering Warmth

And I’d like to leave you with this.

The Faces of We <3 Role-Play

There’s still a couple of days left to shop We ❤ Role-Play. There is no doubt my favorite release at the current round is Artisan Fantasy's Snowden Peaks set (featured here and here and in many posts to come, I’m sure), but this round is full of amazing finds. And if, like I am, you’re a skin addict? This round is a gold mine for you! I already blogged the gorgeous Imabee! skin in this post, but there are also gorgeous releases from La Petite Morte, PXL and Mudskins. There are more dramatic, fantasy type makeups for PXL and for Mudskins, and PXL even has fantasy skintones available. I went for the more mainstream looks, though, to show that even if you’re not into RP, there’s something for you! I’m also wearing the new Lillian eyes from Buzzeri in these pics, which are available at Kuston 9. Oh, and in the pic for Emmy, you also see the brand new Uni ears from Soul, which are another release for We ❤ Role-Play. I'm wearing them with Emmy because La Petite Morte is one of the stores that has so far released appliers for these ears (and I suck at matching!). The appliers are at the LPM mainstore, though… not at We ❤ Role-Play.

Faces of We 3 Role-Play

The sweater I have on is from ISON. It’s a holiday version of the previously released Angora Sweater. This is so cool… it comes with a hud that allows you to add snowflakes, as if you’ve been out in a snow storm. It also lets you hide the big snowflake. So you can just have these gorgeous fuzzy sweaters in totally non-wintry/Christmas-y versions, too. They come in three colors, all of which you’ll see in this post because I fatpacked them. Why? Well, on top of being adorable, these benefit the Canadian Red Cross with a 50% donation for each sale! How can you pass that up? I don’t know how long they will be available, so be sure to head over today to grab yours.

It’s good weather for skating, and I happen to have some new skating poses. This one is from Repose, and created by my husband. The frozen pond is from Dysfunctional Designs, and it is also available at We ❤ Role-Play for a few more days. Remember, everything at We ❤ Role-Play is discounted, so it's definitely worth a trip over there. As if that's not incentive enough, there are some generous designer gifts under the tree. For more about that, check out the catalog on the We ❤ Role-Play blog.

Winter skate

This one is from RACK’s gacha for TLC’s current round. It includes beautiful, vintage-y ice skates created by the designer behind ISPACHI. I used my sometimes MALT to model one of the coats from the newest FATEwear release. Like my ISON sweater, it has a snowy option (as do the hat and scarf that come with it).

Help!

Finally, one last pic, this time with adorable boots on. These are from fri.day, also at Kustom 9. And the fire pit, complete with animations is part of What Next’s Winter Harvest set.

It's a marshmallow world

Finally, I included this last pic to better show off the new Eternity engagement/wedding ring combo from Cae. It’s absolutely stunning, and like all Cae jewelry, comes with a ton of options for a fabulous price.

Warming up

Hope everyone is enjoying their holidays!

Lost in words

The Wild Things gacha festival is under way, and there are some awesome goodies to be had. I’m featuring items from 8F8 along with items that are a Kuro and Consignment collaboration. These are both at the Wild Things event. 8f8 did this gorgeous series called Inside The Story which, as a bibliophile, I just fell in love with immediately. Kuro & Consignment’s Max’s Hideout set is full of goodies, including more books and the adorable tent seen here. Also, Balaclava has made a beautiful, functional gift clock that you can grab for free at the event, and you can see that here, too. There are also packets of cookies from Kalopsia (more from that adorable set to come in future posts!)

Time stands still when lost in a good book

The 8f8 set includes this paper boat that has poses. It’s seriously cute.

Don’t want it to end…

The hardest part of the holidays for me is when they end! I love the decorations, the lights… all the little things that make it magical. Of course, I understand it’s the limited time we use them that makes them so special, but it’s still always sad (for me) to see them go. I’ve had this pesky cold. Not enough to make me spend my days asleep, but it’s a distraction. So, I’ve been taking lots of pics and figured I’d blog some of them, finally, since right now I’m feeling pretty good.

First up… Christmas. On Christmas night I got to spend some quiet time with two friends. The munchkin and I were kind of sleepy, so we made our other friend finish wrapping presents courtesy of Kuro’s Wrapping Gifts prop set (at The Garden). I’m wearing PJs from FateWear and Isley is sleeping in the adorable Waiting For Santa sleeping bag set from O.M.E.N for Collabor88. The adorable dog is from Half+Deer for The Garden. The build is the gorgeous Trilby Dacha from Scarlet Creative, also at Collabor88.

Christmas Friends

Next up, this gorgeous sleigh from Pixel Mode Home for The Garden. There are multiple colors, but I liked the drama of the red & black. There are also Naughty (adult) and Nice (PG) versions, which made me giggle just a bit. It’s gorgeously detailed, and I don’t think this is limited to Christmas at all! I think you can use it all winter long, and you can go grab it at The Garden through January 10th! Especially since the blanket is texture change, making it more versatile. The ground blanket with champagne is included, too!

Sleigh

I have more pics to share, so here we go… this next one features Sway’s Wonderful Life living room set, which is also available at The Garden, as are the cute stockings from Barnesworth Anubis (they are one of the gacha items at this edition of the event). The strewn lights and boxes of Christmas decor are from Second Spaces, and the tree is also from Sway’s.

Christmas

While we were decorating, my naughty KittyCatS got into some mischief! The KittyCatS team really did an amazing job with these Naughty cats. The lights on them even blink, as you can see below. The tree skirt is from tarte. and is one of their gacha items for The Garden.

Naughty Kittens

This next collage features items from The Arcade, which has sadly ended. However, there are still yard sales (just do a search for Arcade yard sales in places), so if you want any of these things, and they aren’t in mainstores, you may be able to find them that way! The gorgeous dining room set is from tarte. and is another item from The Garden. The stockings in the dining room are from Dysfunctional Designs, and they are texture change. Also from Dysfunctional Designs is the cute Christmas tree photo collage on the mantle in the living room. The baking table, and much of the decor on it was from Pixel Mode’s Arcade set, and the hand mixer and tins are from Second Spaces Arcade set. The kitchen shelf was also an Arcade item, this time from Tres Blah.

Christmas Collage

This next pic features Cheeky Pea’s beautiful Yukon kitchen island, and is topped with lots of my Arcade goodies. Featured are items from Second Spaces, Tres Blah, Vespertine and Pixel Mode. If you’d like the name of anything specific, please ask! I normally would list it all, but I want to be sure I get this post done before the holidays are officially over (seeing as it’s New Year’s Day!).

Bake ALL the things!

I wish all of you a wonderful 2014. I want to especially say thank you to all the wonderful designers who have supported my blogging efforts, and to those of you take the time to read.

~Lucie
