Home & Garden Expo!

The annual Home & Garden Expo benefitting Relay For Life is officially open. There are a lot of goodies, spread out over 9 sims, so plan ahead and make use of the sim maps, which you can download here.

This is the new Darcy Cottage from Funky Junk, which is available at the HGE. The living room is adorable, with sunbeams coming through the windows (they can be removed, if desired). I am using Apple Falls RFL item, this beautiful wingback chair, in two of the 7 colors you get for just L$250. The Kiss & Hug sign is from Revival, and is also at the HGE.

Autumn Living

The HGE has allowed direct landmarks to the stores, which I think is a fabulous idea for such a large event. Below you’ll find the slurls for the stores featured in this post.

Revival

Be sure to stop by and check out this amazing event. It’s really quite epic, and if that’s not enough, it’s also for a great cause.

Pose Fair 2013 – Last Call!

Pose Fair 2013 ends on Sunday April 14th! Be sure to stop by before it ends because there are so many goodies to be had, all in one place!

Here are a few more of my favorites. First, from Hopscotch this adorable multipose prop. It comes in a version for regular avs, but I chose the one designed for petites, because it really does seem like the perfect little home for a tiny fairy! I took this pic at Chakryn Forest, one of my favorite sims that allows rezzing. It’s a sim that has a fantasy feel, so I knew it would be perfect for this shot. My petite av is from Al Vulo. Isn’t she cute? She was a gift from my dear friend Lyssa, and I think this is the first time I’ve blogged as a petite!

Dreams of the Fairy

Speaking of Lyssa, I recruited her for this next pic. I fell in love with this Art Dummy/Flowey collaboration for Pose Fair, A Story To Tell A Friend. I just had to have it. Lyssa & I are both wearing items from Collabor88’s April round, too. Check the credits for specific details on that! I took this pic in my cute little Funky Junk schoolhouse, and if you click through to the pic, I have put notes on the various decor items so you know where they are from. If you’d like to know more about any piece, just ask me in comments (here or on Flickr).

Girl Talk

My next pic features another of Hopscotch’s Pose Fair releases, from the Standing Pretty pack. I fell in love with this Magika hair. It’s edgy and sassy, and what can I say… I felt rebellious that night. So much so I even bought the dip dye or ombre or whatever the hell ya wanna call it pack of colors. This beautiful suede dress is from Blacklace, and I must admit, I felt pretty sexy wearing it. My jewelry is from Cae, which I thought added a touch of elegance to my rebellion.

Seeing Green

In the next pic, I’m using one of Adorkable’s Bam poses, also from Pose Fair. For the full body shot, I added my Angelique heels from Gos Boutique. Very sexy, and they definitely suited my mood. Oh, also… did you notice my hands? I finally bought a pair of SLink’s mesh hands. It took me a while because since I change skins so much, it’s a lot of tinting. And I hate tinting. But now Siddean, of SLink has released developer kits and lots of skin creators are making appliers for it, and there are now so many nail polish add ons, too.

Rebel with jewels

There are just so many great stores participating in the Pose Fair, and you definitely should check it out before it ends!

More from Skin Fair!

If you haven’t been to Skin Fair yet, you still have time! The even runs through March 31st, so be sure to get there before it closes. Today I have two skins available at Skin Fair to show you. One thing I love about blogging events like Skin Fair is the chance to discover great stores I didn’t know before the event. I wasn’t familiar with either of these stores, but I will definitely be checking them out regularly now!

First up, from Anymore, is Hazel. This skin is so pretty and soft. It has a youthful feel, and I decided to capitalize on that with a quirky, semi-dorky look. My glasses are from Mon Tissu. The gorgeous necklace is from Cae and is called Sakura. It’s currently available at a new event called The Boutique, brought to you by The Liaison Collaborative. The eyes I am wearing in both of these looks are also a new item, from IKON, at The Boutique. Also, if you’re curious about the decor items, they are tagged with notes if you click through to Flickr, and you can feel free to ask questions.

Anymore Dorky

I paired the skin with hair from Exile, the adorable saddle shoes Tres Blah has out at Collabor88. A lot of people have complained the Tres Blah shoes were too expensive. I have to admit I hesitated when I saw the L$388 price tag on them, but I am a sucker for saddle shoes and these are so cute and unique. They are well done, and I am likely going to go back and grab another pair. No, they aren’t “cheap,” but the quality and creativity is very high, and that counts for a lot for me. My pants are from Greymoon and were available at The Outlet. I’m not sure if that round is over, but if it is, Lyssa usually releases her items in her mainstore after, so either way look for them! My top is so cute, right? It’s from One Bad Pixel’s recent release, and I am in love. It has a hud that lets you change the color of the belt and the shirt that’s under the sweater (just to clarify, it’s all one piece – you can’t wear just the sweater or just the shirt). I’m a sucker for any item that has this sort of control. It makes a piece so much more versatile and an “investment.” Oh, the cute pose in this pic is from Grafica and is part of their Pose Fair release called per donna! I’m excited for Pose Fair!

Anymore

The second skin I want to show you is from Envious. Bella is appropriately beautiful. I love the purple eyeshadow on this one. I love purple. The blushing cheeks on this skin inspired me to blog it as a bride! Plus, I’ll use any excuse to marry Rad again, even if it’s just for pics. 😀 The gorgeous gown I have on is from Sakide. The dress is mesh, but the lacey, sheer top part is a jacket layer you wear under it. The dress works without it, too. But I loved the look, it was so soft and detailed. I felt utterly feminine and girly wearing this gown!

Bridal fantasies

The gown has a secret, seductive side, though… and I had to be sure to show you that, too.

Now and forever

Finally, in this last pic you can see the LaGyo headband I have on with the alternate veiled option. It felt so retro and mysterious, so I knew I had to use it. I will warn you that I had some trouble finding hair that worked, and only came up with this LeLutka option after I saw the lovely Oakley Foxtrot wearing it with the same headband (so ty Oakley!).

I take thee

And last… I have to share this one, even though for blogging purposes you can’t really see anything. I just loved this WL so much, I had to snap the drama shot, too.

You are my dream

What can I say? Our RL/SL wedding anniversary is coming up (April 6th in both worlds)… I guess I was feeling sappy!

Gazebo & Schoolhouse by Funky Junk

Goodbye to Wynter…

There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort. ~Jane Austen

I love that quote. I’m a homebody. This is true in SL and RL alike. While I love traveling, and a good road trip can make me about the happiest person on earth, at the end I am always happy to come back to my own bed, to the comforts and familiarity of my own home.

In SL, I love changing houses. I love decor. I love the lack of dust and dirt. 😛

In January, I started to use this adorable Wynter Cottage from Funky Junk. It’s the first house I’ve ever had where I retextured the rooms. My BFF Rosa is always retexturing houses, but I’ve always just bought houses I loved the textures in, so I never bothered. I liked this house as it was, but I wanted to get creative and find ways to make it more “me,” so I decided to try it. I honestly expected to fail… but I wound up loving the results, at least I did after hours and hours of internal debate! The textures I used are all from Insight Designs, with the exception of the study, which are from (]LL[) Designs.

Probably not surprisingly, with a name like Wynter, this home has frosted windows, and there’s an option to make it looking like it’s snowing outside, by clicking on the home control system. While we will likely get snow where I live until mid-May (sometimes later), I’m ready for spring! And so, since I know I will want to change houses soon, I decided it was time to snap some pics of this one.

First up is the bathroom. I haven’t had a bathroom in SL in a really long time, and I still don’t have a toilet, since Rosa gave me a cute little outhouse. But I loved the elegance of the Ondine bath set from What Next and wanted to build a bathroom around it. The reclaimed fireplace is also from What Next, but the candles used to light it are from Art Dummy, as is the Silence wall art. You can click through to flickr and hover over this image (or any other in this post) to get details on where each item is from, or you can ask me in comments. Or even IM me in SL. I don’t bite!

Bathroom Collage

The second floor of the Wynter Cottage is a huge attic room, which is a great master bedroom that leaves plenty of room for little nooks. I created a music nook and a comfy little reading nook. I fell head over heels in love with the Chair De Lune moon chair from floorplan. Really, it is called a chair, but it would work as a bed, too. It has sleeping poses and it’s so darn cute. I love anything with moons or stars, so I knew I’d need this one when I saw it. My music nook consists of various What Next pieces.

Attic hang out areas

My bed set is the gorgeous one from LAQ Decor. I’ve used the bed in posts before, and will again… but it’s unlikely it will ever look exactly the same twice. That’s because there are tons of color options. The comforter, top sheet, pillows and even the wood on this bed all have so many color/pattern/wood choices. Then, just to add to it, you can tint all the various parts, which really makes this incredibly versatile. It’s also mesh, and the LI is really low… just 12 for the nightstands (all the stuff you see on them is affixed to them) and the bed! My chair is from Senzafine, and the pile of books are Old Books from Garden Of Dreams.

Bedroom

My living room is nearly entirely What Next. I used the Charlotte set. The cats and the tea and cupcakes are the only items not from What Next in this pic. Well, and obviously the house. It was January, but I wanted splashes of color, and cheer. It’s weird for me, since I’m not really into pink (poor Rosa nearly passed out), but I really wanted to feel like it was almost spring… now, today, it finally is!

Living Room

I turned the screened in porch into my study. Since it was, in fact, still winter I added a cozy woodburning stove from Lisp. I really love how this room came out. My younger sister Ali and Rosa like to tease me about my “clutter” love, but it makes me feel cozy. I’d have even more clutter if I could! My baby sister Isley’s things are in the study, including the What Next chalkboard I always rezz for her so she can study her letters and numbers. 😉

Study

This next picture is from a part of the living room I didn’t photograph, mainly because it involves furniture I’ll soon be using in a new home style blog. But I had to snap a pic of this spool table top from floorplan and the items I rezzed on it. The little box is from Beach Street, and I just adore it. I’ve felt that way about tea my entire life. I don’t know why, but tea has always made me feel comforted and calm, yet sophisticated and worldly… all at the same time. My journal is from What Next, and the teacup lamp is Lisp.

Tea

Finally, the kitchen. Again, it’s been a long time since I had a kitchen in SL. I fell in love with this Lisp kitchen, and I knew I had to have it. My art is from a combo of What Next and Sway’s. My little piggy bank is from Sway’s, too. I love her. She has pretty flowers (not visible here) on her side. She also works, so feel free to come by and pay my piglet (just kidding… you’d get kicked if you’re not on my security, lol). My teacups and spoons chandelier is also from Sway’s. I have a bit of a “thing” for spoons because of something called The Spoon Theory. The Spoon Theory was written by Christine Miserandino, and it was how she explained life with a chronic illness (in her case, lupus) to her “healthy” friend. I’ve used it many times myself, since first reading it, to try to better explain life with fibromyalgia. If you talk to me, you’ll frequently hear me say “I have no spoons” or something akin to that. Well, that’s what it refers to, and so between that and my insane tea obsession, I had to have this lamp!

The dining set from What Next is technically intended to be a garden set, but I had to have it for my little kitchen. I loved the fresh feel of the strawberries, and again, despite my usual aversion to pink, I felt the splash of fresh was very welcome in the long winter months.

Kitchen Collage

And now, with the arrival of Spring, I think it’s time to say goodbye to Wynter… you’ve been a great house, and undoubtedly one I’ll return to next year.

Skin Fair Preview & FFL

I was listening to Miranda Lambert while I styled these pics, and may have drawn a bit of inspiration from her music. The result is, I have a story to tell.

It was a warm, late spring afternoon. She was waiting for her lover. A bottle of strawberry wine sat out on the patio, ready to sip as they relaxed into one another after a long, hard week. She’d put on brand new lingerie, lacy and elegant, complete with a corset she couldn’t wait for him to untie. She wandered into her home, sat at the table and dreamily stared out the windows at her garden. Inspiration struck in the form of a poetic love letter that demanded to be written.

Love Letters

She planned to surprise her love with his letter when he arrived. But the hours passed, and the day grew older… and he did not come. He did not call, nor did he answer her calls or texts. She sat, alone and full of sorrow, staring at the bottle of wine. Finally she surrendered to the bittersweet taste of strawberry wine, the taste tart on her tongue a perfect match for the pain in her heart.

Stood Up

Okay, now the details. The gorgeous corset is from Blacklace and it is mesh and moves beautifully with my avatar. I am in love with it. The matching lingerie is also from Blacklace. Both are Fashion For Life exclusives, so not only can you look elegantly seductive, you can do so while supporting a great cause.

My skin is Alexa, a preview of what Iren has in store for you at Skin Fair 2013 which officially opens a week from today! Gorgeous Alexa, like many of Iren’s newer releases, includes a mesh hands option. The garden bench & table, complete with the strawberry wine, are from What Next, as is the Hampton table in my breakfast nook. The garden you see from the window of my What Next Laurel Cottage is from Funky Junk.

50 Shades Of Sexy

So, the lovely Shiloh Selene issued a challenge for the year called 50 Shades Of Sexy. As a 50 Shades Of Grey hater, I was all in favor of proving that we in SL know sexy in ways that would blow the mind of that book’s author. The thing is… I’m not exactly known for doing “sexy” pics. Oh, here and there I’ve dabbled a bit, but my erm, “bits” always stay covered. I know, I know. I’m a prude by SL standards.

But I really wanted to attempt this challenge, and see… can I get through 50 rounds of being sexy my way? Well, week one had a theme of Cotton Candy. The timing was perfect, since Perfect Wardrobe’s theme right now is one related to Candy, and Sakide had out their glam dresses in fun, candy inspired colors.

Of course, we’re sort of programmed to hear “cotton candy” and think “pink, fluffy, spun sugar.” But cotton candy doesn’t have to be pink! In fact, my inner rebel was born pretty much when I was, and as a little girl I strongly resented the notion that since I was a girl I was automatically supposed to like pink. In fact, I spent years hating pink just out of spite. I’m honestly still not a huge fan, but I’ve learned pink has its place! However, part of my anti-pink rebellion meant that I never got pink cotton candy!!! I always went for the blue or, preferably (though harder to find), the pale purple. So, for my Cotton Candy pic, I went with Sakide’s vintage glam dress in lavender. I’d been seeing floorplan’s Chair De Lune piece all over Flickr and finally had to get it. I love anything with moons or stars. The cute little pallet shelf is from What Next, and it comes with the candles and books you see. My skin is the new Belleza, Ava, in medium. This skin is utterly gorgeous, and I bought 0, which is the bare one. I usually don’t get bare skins, but this is one of the prettiest I’ve seen. I tend to like at least having eyeshadow options. I did buy the lipstick fatpack so I can glam it up, but a closeup of this skin is soon to come. My shoes are the Alex heels from G Field. I love these shoes a lot, and my only gripe is I wish they didn’t have a boot fixer you can’t turn off because it can ruin poses. But I didn’t let that stop me from buying like 5 different colors, so obviously it’s not a deal breaker! The thigh high stockings are from Izzie’s, and my hair is Stay The Night, one of the newest Exile releases. It’s funny because I didn’t expect to like this hair, but when I demo’d it, it whispered seductively in my ear, Lucie… you neeeeed me.

Cotton Candy...

This is my very first pic using the LumiPro Hud, which my husband bought me as a Christmas gift. It’s really exciting because it means I can have shadows in my skybox by using the projector option. If you’re curious about LUMIPro, check out their site. If you want to participate in the 50 Shades challenge, you’ll find all the details – along with all 50 prompts – here!

~Lucie

PS. I usually do my credits after the post, but I’m nursing a broken foot and feeling a tad lazy, so I worked them all into the post. If I missed something or you have a question, just leave a comment or contact me in world. 🙂
