Exile has created the cutest little dress that is perfect for being a holiday elf or Mrs. Claus herself. There’s also a hair designed to fit perfectly under its fuzzy hood! The dress is called Santa Baby and comes in 3 color packs. The hair is called Weekender and comes in all of Exile’s usual colors. You’ll find both in the Mainstore. I thought the look was perfect for helping to sell trees on the tree farm by hive I picked up from Tannenbaum. My gorgeous tree is from Half-Deer and you can find it at Collabor88. There are so many colors and styles (I am using the Traditional here), and if you love Christmas as much as I do, I highly recommend the fatpack for L$788. It’s a great deal. My adorable shoes are Ingenue for The Arcade. I also want to point out my reindeer, as he’s from a new store called Mad Match. Right now they only have a Marketplace store, but there are some really cute things and it’s definitely worth checking out.

I am wearing one of LAQ’s recent bento head releases, Scarlet. I love this head. It’s sweet and doll-like. I’m wearing it with the Lola Glam Affair skin applier designed for it that you can find at Kustom 9.

While I’m talking about LAQ, I want to mention that the newest head Neve is on sale for just L$500 through Christmas Eve! So if you need to give a last minute gift or need a new head for yourself or an alt, this is a great opportunity to grab a gorgeous head for an unreal price. I intend to blog that one in the next week or two but I really wanted to make sure to mention it before the sale ended!

Lucie’s Dream Closet

In recent months I’ve found myself liking pink a lot. I was never the pink sort of girl. In fact, as a kid I despised pink. I think I resented the fact that, as a girl, I was just supposed to automatically like pink. So now, as a grown ass woman, I’m finding in my 40s that pink is okay after all. I originally thought of calling these pics Pretty In Pink, but tbh I’d be shocked if I hadn’t already done that, because hello, 80s girl here. So then I thought of the big Reign closet from a couple of Arcade rounds ago and thought well it IS kind of a Barbie pink… and went for the play on Barbie’s Dream House. Which, btw, I never owned. 😦 So sad, right? Anyway.

If you’ve been hiding in your giant, walk-in, two story closet you may have missed that Collabor88 is celebrating its 6th birthday! Crazy, right? I’ve bought items from every round, which is possibly even crazier. This month’s theme was a brightly colored plastic one, though, and I admit… I was a bit hesitant because plastic just isn’t my thing. However, the designers pulled off some really clever interpretations of the theme and I wound up liking quite a lot more than I expected! Great for shopping, less for my budget, but hey the big birthday round only happens once a year, right? Anyway, here I’m wearing a couple of items you can find at Collab’s birthday event. One is the jelly bracelets from Atomic. Raise your hand if you had tons of these as a kid… oh, wait hard to type with one hand in the air. We called them “Madonna” bracelets, as she made them iconic. They were cheap and we did all sorts of weird things with the way we wore them. So I naturally had to have them. My shiny pink dress by Decoy with the awesome scoop neck is also from Collab’s birthday round.

My adorable shoes are from the new Blush event. They are by friday and they have an option (for Maitreya only) that includes socks. I went sockless here for this look. These sandals are so cute. They’ve got a crazy platform heel and the bows are just too cute. Blush closes August 28th, and it’s full of so much cute that you definitely want to check it out ASAP. My hair is by Exile. This style was released for FLF in 2 exclusive color huds. I don’t know for sure if it will be available as a regular Mainstore release, but I love it SO MUCH that I really hope so. I love the heavy, blunt bangs, and the long pulled back style.

Now, let’s talk about my head (and other strange things you hopefully only say when talking about SL!). This is Greer, one of four(!!!) new LeLutka bento heads. All of the bento heads got an awesome update recently, which you can read about on the LeLutka blog. Among the updates are a lot of new animations, which are really cute. As always, the LeLutka heads are preloaded with skins by Glam Affair. You get all the tones, and I’m wearing Jamaica here. I am wearing one of the Tropical eyeshadow colors from Mila, available at Cosmetic Fair, which runs through August 31st. I used the blender to fade it a bit, but the colors are all gorgeous and I love how well they applied! My eyes by [theSkinnery] are another Blush release, and they come in a lot of fun, flirty colors. My earrings and necklace are Cae’s Shooting Star collection.

Blushing Brides

A couple of months back I fell in love with this Eria gown from Dead Dollz. I knew immediately that it would make for a gorgeous wedding gown, but I eschewed the idea of white and went for the nude, as a play on the whole “blushing bride” thing. I’m wearing it with one of Truth’s recent releases. Like his other newer releases this one has a hairstyle HUD with several options. I love messy, curly updos. I’m wearing my Chloe LeLutka head with a Glam Affair applier that was part of June’s LeLutka Powder Pack. The bouquet and pose are part of Foxcity’s Flower bento pose set.

When I decided to do this blog post, I originally intended to use my malt. But since I was doing the post in June – LGBTQ+ Pride Month – I decided to use my falt instead. It’s something very important to me, and by complete coincidence I’m posting this on the anniversary of the SCOTUS ruling that overturned DOMA here in the US. It’s fairly well known that I’m bisexual. It worked out that my soul mate was a man, and getting married was not hard for us. But sometimes I can’t help but think, what if it had worked out differently? While I cannot imagine loving anyone other than my husband, there’s no denying that I benefit from living the life of a heterosexual. Since bisexuality isn’t visible, no one knows by looking at me. I never forget the privilege that I get because of that.

To keep with the non-traditional color scheme, I picked a formal gown from Just Because that felt beachy but still formal, in the shade antique. I’m wearing Ingenue’s Lisbet sandals that are at the current round of Collabor88. I picked a blue shade because I wanted to add just a touch of tradition but in a unique way! Her hair is also from Collabor88, by Exile.

Pastel Winter

Since my 2nd week in SL, I have been a redhead. I’ve done a handful of blog posts (often fantasy ones) where I used a different color, but even then I usually went for one with red highlights, if possible. But for some reason I found myself recently compelled to try something new. I decided that pastels would be pretty on this soft skin, with these lovely violet/rainbow eyes from Buzzeri (which are at The Epiphany). This is kind of a big deal for me, because I’m pretty sure that somewhere I’ve said – at least once – that Lucie would always be a redhead. And odds are, I’ll go back to red soon. But I want to experiment a bit first, I think.

In yesterday’s post, I mentioned that I would show you a closeup of Glam Affair’s pretty Hanna applier from Memento Mori. The important thing to know is that while there are a couple of pretty, more natural options on this skin, it also comes in versions with blood! Because Memento Mori, of course, is an event that has a macabre vibe. I do, however, appreciate that Aida Ewing did a couple of versions that were softer. The tone is Polar (which just so you know is NOT built into the Maitreya hud – I had to go get the appliers for it at the Mainstore. It’s also not built into the hud for Vista’s bento hands, so I have the Maitreya hands on here), which is so pale it’s kind of fantasy in and of itself, but this super soft makeup made it look so wintry and I fell in love with it. My hair is a recent Mainstore release from Truth, and my adorable Love Birds necklace is by Cae. It has two little leaves you can customize with initials of your choice (or you can hide one or both). Mine has an L and an R (for “Radagast,” my husband’s SL name). My lashes are Izzie’s for LeLutka, and I love all the different styles you get.

I also have to share the amazing Aurora dress that Annie Melson of Just Because released at Uber. The story behind this design is utterly adorable. Annie’s teenage daughter drew this design! So she made the dress in SL, and she’s paying her daughter for her work. Also, they plan to do more together! It’s just the loveliest story of encouraging her daughter’s dreams and being an awesome mom. I completely adore this. I have said it many times, but Annie is one of the kindest, most genuine people I’ve met in SL. And she’s so talented, a trait she and her daughter clearly share!

My shoes are Grace from Gos. If you missed it, he recently updated a bunch of his older shoes to be compatible with Maitreya and SLink bodies. I’ve always loved his work, so this made me super happy!

Never should’ve gone skiing

The second I saw this Halo leg brace that Hate This released for Memento Mori I had the idea of a post that involved a skiing injury. Maybe it’s because Crested Butte got so much snow recently, so skiing’s been a hot topic (hotter than usual) here in CO. Regardless, that was the concept. But I felt I needed something more, so I took to Marketplace where, lo and behold, I found this neck brace, which is coincidentally also done by Hate This! The crutches are also Hate This, and also a MP find. They are older and non-mesh but only L$25 so they were perfect for this post! Plus, like the leg brace and neck brace, they were color change, which meant I could make parts purple!

My skin applier is also at Memento Mori, and it’s from Glam Affair (another post with a close up of this skin is coming soon). My hair is a Truth VIP group gift called Gaea, and I like it quite a bit. I like short, cropped hairstyles and often feel there aren’t enough of them in SL! The One Cranky Bitch cocoa mug on my side table by brocante is one of the items in Reign’s Cozy V2 gacha for the current round of The Epiphany (if you click through to Flickr you can see the pic bigger). And really, can you blame me for feeling like a cranky bitch?! I shattered my poor leg and hurt my neck! Never going skiing again! 😉

Unwrapping a shiny New Year!

For those who have been celebrating, happy Orthodox Christmas/Epiphany to you. This is a special day for me because it’s the anniversary of the first time I ever spoke to my husband, 18 years ago. We made our first date plans over the phone and spent a couple of hours getting to know each other. I always think of it as the day of our personal epiphanies.

I’ve got 3 pics for you today, and the final pic is slightly NSFW. I began the new year with a stomach bug that had me mostly in bed for several days now but I’m finally feeling more myself. I hope your start to 2017 was more cheerful!

First, if you haven’t already seen it, LeLutka has released the updated, Bento compatible version of their popular Simone head. If you already own the original Simone head, wear it when you buy the new one and you will be refunded 50% (the original purchase price of $L2500), which is just awesome! I think this is a stunning head, which was very easy to customize. This new option is great for those who’ve craved a mesh head but wanted to keep their own face, and multiple stores, including Catwa have released bento heads. I already owned Simone, and the updated version was a gift from a dear friend. The new LeLutka HUD is really sleek and easy to use. Definitely check it out. As always, it includes a base skin from Glam Affair, but GA also released several brand new appliers for it which can be found right at LeLutka, in the Undivided section where you’ll find all of their mesh heads. Please note this is the ONLY pre-existing head that is being updated to be Bento compatible. I am wearing Simone with the new Lucrezia applier, which is available at Uber. The eye makeup I have on is from the Simone hud, however. My necklace and earrings by Cae are the exclusive Gifts of the Guardians that you can get from the Gos & Cae collaboration at Gacha Guardians.

In both pics I am wearing the Christina gown released at the Just Because mainstore right around the holidays. This gown is absolutely stunning and I could not choose a single color, so I had to change it for the headshot. This can be worn without the fur jacket, which makes it extremely versatile, and while it was the perfect dress for the holiday season, it certainly works year round, with or without the jacket! My malt is wearing a suit from Deadwool. This particular pattern was a limited edition, but it’s available in other colors and it’s really so well done.

Finally, I knew I wanted to do this last picture the second I saw this clever collaboration between SLC and Sallie at October’s round of The Epiphany. I thought, a tied up, sexy Christmas gift type pic would be hot. This one’s below the cut since it’s sorta NSFW.

Memento Mori & Salem

Memento Mori closed unexpectedly early. This happened because of people taking advantage of its location to cam to the Epiphany sim so they could shop before the event was open. This is a huge problem in an event like The Epiphany because it’s a 100% gacha event and people shopping that way early can sell stuff before the event is even open. It’s really unfair to designers. Also, since there are very specific scripts involved in the event, a machine might look setup and not actually be done. So basically, to sum it up, this is why we can’t have nice things.

But fear not! Memento Mori is going to reopen after The Epiphany opens! You’ll be able to return to the event to shop. Some designers may have opted to put their items out in their Mainstores, so if there was something you had your eye on, check there, too. So stay tuned for the return of this awesome event! Here’s a link to the blog with all the info.
