For Aeva Heartsick

One of the things I love about Second Life is seeing how it can be a real community, one that comes together to help one of its members. The For Aeva Heartsick event is one of these times. Amesha Jewell, the owner of Aeva/Heartsick and an incredibly talented designer, relies on her computer for her RL income. Specifically, she relies on SL earnings. Unfortunately, her computer finally died. Amesha’s been making a very long commute to her parents’ home as needed in order to get some work done, but friends wanted to help her out and organized a fundraiser to help offset, if not cover, the costs of replacing her computer. You can read more about the event here. There’s a wide variety of offerings to be had, and here I am featuring just a few of my favorites.

First, this new skin from Aeva highlights Amesha’s talents so perfectly. It also shows her dedication, given she did this work at her parents’ home so she could offer something at the fundraiser herself. Lyric has amazing eyes, don’t you think? There are other skins available, too, including some fantasy skins. Each skin is only L$100 and includes appliers for Puffy, Lolas and Lush breasts. Also, an added bonus… there are mesh feet in each skin box! So, if you’ve wanted some prettier feet but not wanted to spend the L on them, this is a great way to get a pair that match the skin exactly. The lipstick I have on is an add-on from Aeva and you get multiple colors for just L$75. I am wearing a necklace from Collisions that is also available at the FAH event. My beautiful ring is Cae’s Alchemy ring (at the birthday round of FaMESHed). Like all of Cae’s jewelry it has multiple gem and metal options, which I love.

Lyric (Aeva Skin)

When I saw this new hair from LoQ, I knew I wanted it. I love how summery it feels. Somehow it manages to be both messy and elegant at the same time! My dress is from Sakide, and is another FAH item. It comes in three color choices, but the black and white was my favorite. I paired it with my Gos Boutique espadrilles and felt the look was complete.

For Aeva Heartsick Event

This is a lovely event designed to help a fellow SLer who happens to be an absolute sweetheart and an incredible talent. So, why not hop over and have a look? Maybe you’ll find something a “must have” item and help a member of our community at the same time! The event runs through May 14th, so be sure to check it out before it’s over!

Prissy In Pink

Happy Valentine’s Day! I’m still recovering from a nasty bout of bronchitis… but I didn’t want to let today go by without say I hope you all have a lovely ❤ Day.

My adorable look inspired the title Prissy In Pink. The skin, a Valentine's Day special from Aeva, is so deliciously pouty. When I added the hair – Tenille – from Truth's last release, with it's poufy bow and the corset dress from Greymoon with its polka dots, I just felt so girly. This dress will be out in Greymoon's mainstore in a couple of days, and it's hud controlled with multiple texture options! I'm not usually big on pink… but I get in moods once in a while, and this one just happened to be rather well timed! It also gave me the chance to use the pink shade of my Grace sandals from Gos Boutique! Oh, and btw… for those who don't like hair bows, Tenille comes with an alternate version sans bow!

Prissy In Pink

Now for a closeup of Selene. This skin is just so lovely. I consider one of the Aeva//Heartsick trademarks to be how utterly soft Amesha Jewell’s skins look. The Sweetheart makeup, special for Valentine’s Day, is ultra feminine, and there’s a quiet maturity to this skin for those who prefer to look a bit older. My eyes are from IKON’s Eternal line. The shade is called Mesa, and I liked the hint of an almost pinkish brown that this color has to it. I’m kind of obsessed with this line of eyes. I’m incredibly fussy about how eyes look in SL, and I have to confess I don’t like most eyes. I’ve been addicted to IKON eyes since last spring, and that addiction doesn’t seem to be waning at all. Oh, also… check out this adorable necklace from Collisions! It’s called Forever Infinite and it’s so pretty, and yet it’s not overly feminine. It’s designed to be unisex.

Lots of hugs to all…

Bohemian Elegance…

This post is sort of a hodgepodge mixup… but the unifying force is recent releases from Truth and Aeva/Heartsick!

First up, the newest face from Aeva. This skin is called Halo, and it’s absolutely stunning. It features the softness that Amesha’s Jewell’s skins are known for, and an undeniable sophistication and elegance. I’m wearing the Dusk makeup in Tone 1. The brows on this skin are very dark, so I used the No Brow option and added a tattoo layer brow I had from Cupcakes. My jewelry is from Cae, and it’s called Entangled. I might’ve suggested that name to the lovely and talented Caelan Hancroft when she showed me a sneak peek of this set. 🙂 The jewelry is texture change, which I love, and this metal is silver.

Aeva - Halo Dusk (Tone 1)

The hair in these pics is a new release from Truth called Mayim. I am totally in love with this one. It’s romantic, and with the slightly messy quality it can be casual or more formal. I went for casual elegance in this top from Kamouraska – coming soon to the new edition of The Outlet (opening October 15th), and a pair of coldLogic recent jean release. My adorable shoes are from Ingenue for the October edition of Collabor88. For just L$88 these are a must have in multiple colors! I have the lilac, shown here, as well as the black… and I might just go back for more before it ends next month! I shot this next pic in the Tuscan build from MultiScene.

Solitude

If you’re not familiar with MultiScene, check it out. It’s $L30/hr to rent and you get so many amazing options. It’s a great source for bloggers and photographers, or even store owners who want “scenes” for their vendor ads. But for my next look, I knew just what I wanted. I created this look using a summery dress from NiNight Creations, but I added a turtleneck from fri.day and lace stockings from G Field, and the oh-so-popular Stagioni boots from Maitreya (I finally bought a pair) to give it a fall, boho chic look. My friend Altair commented that I looked ready for a poetry reading, and that inspired this pic that I called Open Mic Night. I went to the very popular, and utterly adorable Pixel Bean Cafe to take these shots.

Open Mic Night

This hair is also a new release from Truth, called Havana. I’m wearing Blaze, which is one of the new shades from the Fades color pack. I really like these colors! They are fun and playful, and suited this look. The jewelry is Maxi Gossamer, and my eyes are from the new Kaleido series at IKON. This skin is a revamp of an old Heartsick skin called Chloe. Aeva is the name of all of Amesha’s new skins, and Heartsick is the older brand… but she revamped Chloe and I’m glad she did because it’s beautiful. I’m wearing the Asylum makeup in the Cream shade.

Heartsick - Chloe - Asylum - Cream

These were all a lot of fun to shoot! I am definitely in love with these skins.

Stay tuned because soon I will be blogging from Cinema. If you haven’t heard about this event, check out the details here. I’m so incredibly excited and honored to get to blog this one. I’ve been looking forward to it since I heard about it, which at this point feels like months ago.

Vintage Bride & Retro Swimsuit Model!

One of the things I love about being a blogger and getting to preview events like Vintage Fair is that I am discovering items from stores I wouldn’t otherwise have been likely to check out. This gorgeous mesh gown – a 20s inspired wedding gown, to be exact – is one such creation. The poses are from MotionLess Poses, also part of Vintage Fair.

Vintage Bride

Burst of red

The bridal headband also includes an option without a veil. This is a gown that could definitely be worn for other formal events, and not just as a wedding dress. This absolutely stunning Jaci skin from Aeva//Heartsick was a perfect match for this gown, and it is also available at the Vintage Fair. I’ve always admired the work of Amesha Jewell, and I think she’s really outdone herself with her Vintage Fair skins!

Aeva (Heartsick)

Another incredibly gorgeous skin from Aeva//Heartsick is Phoebe. This makeup option – like all the Vintage Fair skins from Aeva//Heartsick – is exclusive to this event, so if you like any of these, be sure to grab them during the event. Once it’s over, the full lines of these new faces will be released, but not these makeups! I wore the version with freckles for this second look. I kept thinking this skin reminded me of someone famous, and eventually I figured out that the version with freckles made me think of a young Lara Flynn Boyle. I decided to use this skin for my retro swimsuit model look. The poses are from Status Poses and are also Vintage Fair items, as is the simply adorable swimsuit from Sleeping Koala.

Retro Swimsuit Model

The hair in this look is from Alice Project, and it’s actually the very first mesh hair I ever bought. It’s not a Vintage Fair item, but it fit the look so perfectly you’d think otherwise!

Pinup Girl

That’s all for now… more soon. My internet is being a brat (to say the least), so I’m cranking these out as fast as I can.

Vintage Fair Preview!

It’s almost here! Chic Management’s Vintage Fair 2012 opens in just 2 days. I was beyond excited to be chosen as one of the bloggers for this event, and the sneak peeks I’ve had have just blown me away. The build is spectacular, and so well laid out. It’s nice and easy to navigate, and I say this being someone who is easily lost in either world!

I apologize in advance because I am probably not going to be blogging much else but Vintage Fair for the next week or so! I just have so much amazing stuff to share with you all. This event is being sponsored by Aura, Belleza, Cheeky Pea, coldLogic, Gizza Creations, Indyra Originals, PurpleMoon Creations, oOo Studio and Trompe Loeil, and it is three sims big! There’s also a photo contest for the event, the details of which you can read about here.

I had to start my Vintage Fair blogging with the 80s. As a “child of the 80s,” it’s a time period I remember well, and I loved the bright colors and crazy, wacky styles then and I still do now! Of course, I’m not entirely thrilled to think that my childhood clothing would be considered “vintage,” but alas, I will somehow manage to cope with that reality. I’m starting with Izzies & Lush. The Jem sweatshirt is from Lush. I absolutely loved the show Jem as a kid (I’ll try not to obsess over how many of my SL friends weren’t yet born when I was watching this show!), so when I saw this top I knew I had to blog it. It’s Truly Outrageous, after all.

Truly Outrageous (Lush & Izzie's)

The skin is from Izzies, as are the nails and awesome shiny leggings. This is the Eliza skin in Sunkissed and there are 3 makeup versions for 80s Eliza. I’m wearing the purple here. Also from Izzie’s, and available as a gift at Vintage Fair, the headband (which is texture change) and the mesh bangles. The top is part of an outfit available that is called Flashdance, and the look does just scream Flashdance!

Flashbacks... er, Flashdance!

The zebra print gown in this second look reminds me a prom dress that was worn by the older sister of a friend to her 1985 prom. The gown is from Envy Me, and I believe it is a Vintage Fair exclusive color. This pose is one of a pack of five from Sleeping Koala, also available at Vintage Fair.

Envy Me Vintage Fair

The gorgeous skin in this look is Selene from Aeva (aka Heartsick – I believe they are rebranding). It’s absolutely stunning, isn’t it? I love the smokey eyes, and if blue eyeshadow doesn’t scream 80s, well… I didn’t have a My Little Pony sleeping bag!

Aeva (Heartsick) Selene

I have lots more to come from Vintage Fair. Stay tuned.

I stand for love…

Today, I awoke to an invite to this flickr group. The timing was so coincidental because just the other day I was thinking of doing a blog post about love, and how no matter what the gender breakdown of partners may be, love is wonderful, beautiful and amazing. It was also funny timing because I had to shoot an ad for a vendor texture today for a pose Rad made over the weekend. I am going to share a pic I took while shooting that here.

Together

This pose is called Together. It’s our second romantic pose for two men… and I think it’s very sweet and tender. And yes, I am one of the “men” in that pic. I’m the brunette. My friend Sephie is the blond, so it’s two RL women who posed as men for this ad, but I think we’re fairly cute… especially in our A:S:S boxers and mesh tanks!

This is the business side of my story. Embody is my “baby,” and it’s very important to me that we sell something that allows couples of all gender combos to show their love. This is where we get to the personal side of the story.

I grew up very religious. As many know, I’m now an atheist, but as a child I was as devout as it gets. However, I was also acutely aware, from a very young age, that I was somehow different from other kids. Specifically, from other girls. I had lots of crushes on boys, just like any little girl… but I also had crushes on girls. I didn’t really understand that at the time. I explained away my feelings, trying to rationalize them to myself because my religious beliefs taught me my feelings were somehow dirty and wrong. Of course, this applied to my feelings for boys, too, eventually… but not to the same extent.

My first kiss was technically with a girl. I was only 9, and she was only 8. We were best friends and experimenting, which is not uncommon even among children who later grow up to be “straight” adults. But 10 years later, we’d kiss again… and this time it wasn’t the innocent exploration of childhood. It was a burning curiosity. But she and I were too close, almost like sisters in a way, and I felt strange kissing her because of that. What I did take away from the experience was the reality, finally, that I was bisexual. It should’ve been obvious, but I’m 36 now. I grew up in a time when “gay” was only something we were just starting to see on TV, and bisexual wasn’t mentioned at all. Ironically enough, my first childhood boyfriend – and the first boy I kissed – would later “come out” as gay when we were young adults.

By the time I embraced my sexuality, I was an adult and had long since abandoned the religious beliefs of my childhood. This made it easier to have these feelings, but I still had no idea what to do with them, really. I had a few flirtations with women, but nothing that ever amounted to much of anything. I foolishly convinced myself that I couldn’t love a woman. I think, in retrospect, I did that because I realized it would be easier that way. I thought it was a purely physical attraction that could never become anything “real.”

I met the man who would become my husband just before my 23rd birthday. He’s the love of my life… I know what real love is because of him and all he’s given me. Not only is he my RL husband, he’s my SL husband. We run a business together in SL, and we spend almost all of our time in both worlds together. I am incredibly fortunate that the laws don’t forbid my marriage. I am incredibly lucky that society accepts it as “normal” or “acceptable.” While I can’t imagine loving anyone else, it was never impossible that the love of my life may have been a woman. If that had been the case, I’d have had to fight for our love in ways that heterosexual couples can’t possibly imagine.

And so… I stand for love. Love is beautiful and pure, regardless of the genders of those in the relationship. Life is far, far too short and precious to deny anyone the right to love. If it doesn’t hurt anyone else – and gay couples do NOT hurt anyone, despite what the religious right would have us believe – then what right does anyone else have to deny it.

I stand for love

To anyone reading this who is anti-gay or anti-bisexual… I want you to look at your partner tomorrow when you wake up. I want you to imagine a world in which you were told you could not love that person. That it wasn’t “right” or “natural.” I want you to imagine a world in which you weren’t free to make the most personal of choices… the person with whom you share your love and life.

Not a pleasant thought, is it?

~Lucie

Coffee Date

Our store is going to be part of a quirky hunt called It’s Your Cuppa. I love themed hunts, and the theme for this one is coffee or coffee houses. So, we came up with an idea for a cute pose that’s also unisex. Rad makes all of our poses, but I usually shoot the ads for couple poses. For this pose, I wanted to capture the feeling of a cool spring morning… walking through a beautiful park. But I just wasn’t sure where I’d shoot it. Fortunately, I was in luck.

My friend Meme and her lovely girlfriend Randi had just announced they’d opened their new sim Water Reserve, home of scribbled heart & *. emm. I went to investigate and was blown away by the dreamy, springtime beauty. The best part is that they wanted it to be a pretty, welcoming place where people can take pics. Well, I say they’ve accomplished this goal! When I shot the ad texture for our Java pose, I couldn’t resist also shooting a more dramatic, fun pic for posting here! My friend Sephie is the guy in this pic… she’s always willing to be a man for me, which I appreciate deeply. 😛

coffee date

It’s fun to shoot ads because I’m always “me” in my regular pictures. For ads, I wear one of our shapes, and usually go with a very different look. Admittedly, this look isn’t all that different for me, but it was still a lot of fun!
