Where the ocean meets the land

I fell head over heels in love with this adorable Alice Project hair released at Hair Fair 2016. The (literal) hair bow and braid are so sweet and just perfectly done. I knew this was one I’d need to shoot from the back, to really show how gorgeous it is, but the front is very pretty, too. I’m wearing the frilled swim bottom in bloom that is part of Neve’s recent, ginormous swim collection release. What’s cool is you can mix and match the tops and bottoms, making these really customizable. But I decided to be a bit sassy and just wear the cute, ruffly bottom for this pic!

where the ocean meets the land

I wanted to show you the new LAQ mesh head, Trinity. This is LAQ’s first foray into mesh heads, and I really love it. The shape of the face is so beautifully done. There are a few things that particularly stand out for me about LAQ’s head. First off, it’s OMEGA compatible out of the box. No add on to buy or wear. You can wear any OMEGA applier you’d like with it. Secondly, it has a really nice, clean hud. It’s very user friendly and not overly complicated, which is something I think is a particular bonus for anyone who has wanted a mesh head, but maybe has felt overwhelmed by all the huds and options. I’m wearing the built in default applier, which is called Wilma, and is also available for sale at the LAQ store, so if you like the applier but are attached to your current head (no pun intended), you can demo it and see if you like it on that head (as long as it’s OMEGA compatible). There are also multiple other appliers available for it, including some of LAQ’s more popular older skins, like Elena. Also, I’m still wearing the Jennilynn hair here, so you can see how sweet and pretty the front bangs are.

Trinity

Hair Fair 2016 wraps up this weekend, closing with Bandana Day on Sunday, July 31st. This annual event is truly amazing, and something I always look forward to, so be sure to look out for my Bandana Day ensemble on Sunday! In the meantime, be sure you go and grab your own bandanas. They’re only L$50 per bandana, with 100% of the proceeds going to charity, and there are – as always – some truly incredible and creative options to choose from… even if you’re not a blogger, it’s a great cause and you get something fun and unique out of it!

I stand for peace…

When I first heard of the “I stand for peace” challenge presented by The White Canvas Gallery, I have to admit… my tendency towards cynicism won over. My first, honest thought? I’d love to stand for peace, but my legs are going to get awfully tired. But being me is complicated. Because even though I can be cynical (though I tend to prefer to think I’m just realistic), I can also be idealistic. So, I have said it before and I’ll say it now: I’m a realistic idealist. I can recognize when I’m being idealistic, but I refuse to give up the idea that there’s a place for idealism in this world.

I really like this quote, and not just because I consider Sara Teasdale to be one of the most underrated poets in history.

I make the most of all that comes and the least of all that goes. ~Sara Teasdale

I like to think I manage to do this most of the time. My life has been interesting and difficult. Full of love, but also challenges. However, I like to believe that, when faced with hardships, I find a way to make the best of a bad situation. To find the proverbial silver lining. So, even though I fear that we’re living in a time that will face far more violence before we achieve anything akin to peace, I also think we can find ways to look for peace from within, to take strength from the stories of others; of those who survive, of those who saved, of those who died so others might live. We can see the beauty that is always here, and remember the wise words of Dumbledore (via JK Rowling): Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.

It seemed fitting to blog this challenge using one of the gorgeous hairs you can find at Hair Fair 2016. I feel that this event is an example of the best of humanity, of the goodness and love that exists in this world, and I mean the real one as well as our virtual one. Because, after all, this event benefits real life children. Also appropriate, I felt, was to use something currently available at The Epiphany – these adorable butterflies from Cubic Cherry Creations. For if ever the world needed another epiphany, the time would be now.

My hair is from Mina. I loved the windblown feel of this hair, and I’ve always been a huge fan of Mina’s red shades. My adorable capri pants are by Just Because for N21 and I’m wearing the N21 exclusive color, which will not be available when the event ends! The tank top I’m wearing is one of Neve’s summer offerings. My sandals are from fri.day, and fri.day has moved to a new location, so be sure to update your LM!

I stand for peace

Now I have to talk about this gorgeous new mesh head from Catwa. Bibi has such a sweet, youthful face. It felt perfect for this dreamy, peaceful look I wanted. I paired it with Glam Affair’s Gabriela applier, which is part of the Gacha Guardians event. If you’ve been looking for a mesh head with a young, soft vibe, definitely go demo this one. Bibi is a basic head, which means you can get the static version of it for just $L900. You can check out this image, which explains all of the various options available on Catwa heads.

Sweet Bibi

If you haven’t done the “I stand for peace” challenge yet, consider it. It’s simple, but powerful. And I was nominated by the lovely Saffie to do it, so really… I had to.

Bubbly

This is the first of my Hair Fair 2016 posts. This fabulous event is open, and of course part of the proceeds from every sale will go to Wigs For Kids. It’s a great cause, with a ton of hair designers. There’s something to suit everyone’s tastes there, so definitely check it out. You can find all of the information you need, including a map, on the official blog. I’m wearing one of ISON’s lovely releases – Marie – in these photos. I’m also wearing one of Catwa’s newer head releases, Dyana, with the Bambi applier that Pink Fuel released for it at Kawaii Project.

My cute little dress is from Blueberry, and the strappy, sexy heels I’m wearing are from Glamistry. This adorable pose, which comes with the bubbles prop you see, is from Infiniti and is available at The Season’s Story. I’m using the Trompe Loleil Zohra Oasis, which is available at the current round of Uber. You have a few more days before this round closes and there are lots of awesome items there, so go check it out.

Here’s a better look at the shoes! The BBQ set you see in all three pics is from Dynasty’s release for The Epiphany. It’s a super cute set, and one of many amazing things you can find at this round of the event!

Finally, here’s the YouTube video that inspired two of the titles of these pics.

Ascension

Hi! So it’s been a while. First I was busy blogging Pose Fair over at Hottie Cooterati’s site and then I traveled back east to visit family. And naturally my husband and I both got sick. Grr. But anyway, I’m back and The Epiphany just opened, so I have things to talk about and share!

Unless you’re living under a mesh rock, by now I’m sure you’ve seen the stunning Oakley set Blueberry did for The Epiphany, but I have to show it to you again because it’s so beautiful, sexy and just overall well done. Plus, it was fun being an angel! I’m wearing hair by Alice Project, which is also at the event, along with the gorgeous sandals from Reign.

Ascension

Also from The Epiphany are my eyes by Buzzeri. I’m wearing the Rainbow here, which are one of three rare colors. But all of the colors are stunning. I also wanted to show the exclusive tiara from Blueberry up close. In case you’re new to The Epiphany, all of the participating designers have an exclusive item which you can get by cashing in your extra gacha items. You can read more about the process here. I’m also wearing White Widow’s exclusive, the band tattoo around my leg. The rest of my tattoos are also from White Widow, in their regular machine.

Doubt

Unrelated to The Epiphany, I’m also in love with the Karin mesh head from LeLutka. I’m wearing it with Lara Hurley’s Iza applier, and I have to say I feel like this combo is the closest I’ve come to my standard avatar face. I enjoy the mesh heads, and I don’t mind looking very different. But it’s kind of cool to have finally found a combo that feels like “me” the way this does.

More soon, from The Epiphany and beyond! In the meantime, here is the shopping guide, and below are the slurls!

I’ll fly away

When Reign released these ballet slippers and leg warmers for Collabor88’s birthday round, I was thrilled. I’ve wanted good mesh pointe slippers for ages, and these are designed to work with an assortment of mesh bodies as an added bonus. I am wearing mine with Maitreya’s Lara body. Le Fil Casse’s adorable little dress for Kawaii Project seemed like the perfect compliment, and when I saw Infiniti’s Fantasy Gacha Carnival poses, inspiration was born. I went to Blithe (which has really become my favorite place to take pics lately), found the perfect spot and voila!

The Return of the Raid Your Closet Challenge!

Hi! So, I’ve brought back the Raid Your Closet Challenge! RYCC 3.0 is officially underway. If you missed the original and the sequel, now’s your chance to take part in the latest version. Not familiar with RYCC? Well, here’s a page with lots of info!

The RYCC Page

This challenge requires that everything blogged was in my (and should you choose to participate, your) inventory as of 11:59 pm April 30th, 2015. As in every prior RYCC you are expected to wear an entirely new outfit – something you’ve never blogged/photographed/worn before – each week (or however often you participate), but you can have exceptions. My exceptions include my shape (my own creation) and my eyelases (Mon Cheri’s Falsies, which I wear nearly exclusively). I likely also frequently repeat my SLink mesh hands and feet, though probably not in every post. If you decide to participate, either via Plurk, Flickr or your own blog, just make sure you list your own exceptions, too!

For my first pic, I’m wearing seriously adorable Ohmai Salon hair I bought at last year’s Hair Fair and never wore once. I built the outfit around this hair, and the dress is from Gizza that I bought at Shiny Shabby a couple of rounds back. Without further ado, here are my pics… both taken at Blithe, which is fast becoming a favorite place to take pics!

Daydreamer (RYCC Week 1)

Birds of a feather...

Be sure to join the Flickr group to follow as the challenge progresses and add your own pics. You can also share your blog links in the comments of this post!
