Always time for shoes & books

I wanted to squeeze in one final Shoetopia post, and this time I’m pairing with another Geeks ‘n’ Nerds Fair look and some home decor.

LaRoo released three new styles at Shoetopia, named Kim, Khloe and Kourtney. I’m wearing the Kourtney booties in these pics. All three are awesome, and I will absolutely be sharing the other two styles in the future. I paired these adorable booties with Fishy Strawberry’s Geeks ‘n’ Nerds ensemble. The pieces are sold individually and come in a lot of color options. I love tartan, so I had to wear that! My cute book poses are from Nani, and can also be found at Geeks ‘n’ Nerds.

There's always time for shoes & books

I decorated more of my Neva Captain’s Home from Scarlet Creative (at the current round of Collabor88). I love the fireplace in this house (note: I added fire, it’s not included). It’s so charming and rustic. The desk set is from Lark’s Bird Nerd set, another Geeks ‘n’ Nerds Fair item. The cocoa tray on the little rug is a new release from Dysfunctional Designs. It’s scripted to be cocoa or tea and also has multiple texture options. The Geek wall art is from Collage, and I’m pretty sure you can guess what event that is available at! The Winter Is Coming blocks set is from floorplan’s Geeks ‘n’ Nerds offerings, perfect for any Game Of Thrones fans.

Winter Is Coming

Here is a pic of my backyard, featuring a new release from Sway’s… the Christmas tree! This tree comes in lots of colors, but I went au naturel since I was putting it in my yard. Inside, on the cozy rug are some books that are part of Sari-Sari’s Geeks ‘n’ Nerds set, as is the Whovian Tea Time set on the desk. The egg decor and calendar are other items that make up Lark’s Bird Nerd set.

Winter in the woods

Be sure to check out Shoetopia, which closes tomorrow night! And the Geeks ‘n’ Nerds Fair is also a must visit event, especially for those who love geeky and nerdy things!

League for Shoetopia

League has released some utterly adorable winter wedge boots for Shoetopia, which opens tomorrow!!! I paired these boots with a pair of “jeggings” from coldLogic. If you’re looking for mesh pants that work with boots, these are worth checking out. They have multiple lengths, one of which is shortened and ideal for the faux tucked look. Trust me, there are a LOT of unreal boots to be had at Shoetopia, so you may need to invest in these pants (like I did)! My cozy oversized sweater is from U.F.O. for the current round of Collabor88. I fell in love with this sweater and had to have it. This pose is one my husband made for our Shoetopia gacha. It’s one of the rare poses that comprise our five pose pack Footloose. We have ten other “show off my shoes” inspired poses, too.

The Wood Shed

Here’s a closer look at the gorgeous boots! They come with a hud and have a lot of options (have I mentioned that I love options?). They also come in a wide variety of colors, so there’s definitely one (or two… or three… or hell, buy the fatpack!) that will work for your winter wardrobe needs!

Candy Fair 2013

Candy Fair 2013 opened on Friday, and it’s three sims full of candy-inspired creations. There is a lot of cute to be had at this event, so definitely check it out!

I love the Kuro Candy Kitchen that you can find at the event. The kitchen and bar are both part of it, and there are tons of gorgeous accessories available for it. The mugs, cups, bowls, plates and flowers in the picture below are all a part of this set. The stool I am sitting on is also a part of the kitchen, as is the trash bin in the corner. Many of these items are either texture change or come in multiple colors. Oh, the cute candy wall art is from Collage, and it’s also at Candy Fair. I set up my candy kitchen in the Scarlet Creative Autumn Reclaim Store/Open Home. This was part of last month’s Collabor88, but hopefully will be available at the mainstore because it’s really cute.

Choices

The yummy candy on the bar is from Marmelade. These pieces are not just pretty decorations! They dispense goodies! Here’s a closer look. Don’t they look delicious?

Sweet Treats

My cute romper is another Candy Fair find, this time from Osito. My hair is Vida, a recent Truth release, which will also make an appearance in my next post, but in a different color. I know, shocking! The yummy looking little cupcake hat on my head is appropriately from yumyums. The pose, which includes the gumballs I am so badly juggling, is from Infiniti Poses, and is also at Candy Fair. As is my cute lollipop necklace from tea.s and it comes in a lot of adorable colors. This skin is just one of so many available at Candy Fair. This is Donna from WoW Skins.

So much for my career as a juggler

More from Candy Fair soon! In the meantime, go check it out for yourself!

My Bungalow: Part 1

I fell in love with the Barnesworth Anubis Carraway Bungalow that was part of Collabor88 in August. It’s a big house, so it took me a while to decorate it! I have a LOT of pics for this house, so I decided to break it down into two posts.

I modified this house a good bit, in terms of textures. Some of the walls I just tinted, and some I used wallpaper on. Unlike some mesh houses, that was possible with this one. It took some trial and error, but it was a lot of fun to do. I like customizing houses, so that they feel more “me.” I never used to do this, but my BFF Rosa got me hooked, and now I love it.

So, here are the pics… or at least the first batch. I’ll try to keep my comments to a minimum. As always, please click through the pics to see them bigger in Flickr. You’ll also find notes on each pic with where each item is from. If I missed something (I hope not!) or you want more info, feel free to ask in the comments here or on Flickr, or IM me in world.

Autumn Daze

Porch

I have to say this… the Carraway comes with several gorgeous built in cabinets and shelves. The best part? They are all functional, meaning they open!

Mantle

I wanted to particularly point out the adorable Friends artwork seen in this next collage because it is an item from Sway’s for the current round of The Arcade, and you only have a few more days to go try to win it!

It's the little things

Live comfortably

This college shows the dining room built in, which I photographed with some doors open, so you could get a better idea for what I mean about what an awesome detail this is.

And everyone was invited

The second post will be coming soon, so keep an eye out for it!

Dragonfly Cottage

When I saw Eku Zhong of Culprit posting WIP pics of the Dragonfly Cottage, I knew I would need it. You can see her pics here. It’s a perfect summer home. I love the colors, and the gorgeous texture work. Eku also included the texture maps so people can modify to make their own. I’m utterly clueless about these things, but I thought it was a really cool feature for those of you who are able to do this.

This post is going to be pic intensive, so I am not going to talk much. I’ll mostly just share the pics. As always, you can click through to Flickr to see notes on each image for the items featured. If you want to know something specific, please don’t hesitate to comment here or on the Flickr link.

To decorate the living room, I took advantage of the recent fri.day/fri.home 50% off sale. Oh, and I have to point out that lamp. It’s from a brand new store, encore. Isn’t adorable?

Dragonfly Living Room

Dragonfly Fireplace

I love anything tea related… in RL or SL! So I had to have this cabinet from floorplan!

Tea Time

My kitchen features the Salty Dogs & Mermaids kitchen from LISP and the dining set is LAQ Decor. I love the dining set because you get tons of colors, and you can choose from a wide variety of table settings, too.

Dragonfly Kitchen & Dining

The sun porch has such a beautiful tile floor, and the colors are gorgeous with the teal/greens of the walls and outside. The rug is from encore.

Dragonfly Sun Porch

The cottage has a wrap around deck that rocks!

Dragonfly Deck

The large upstairs loft has a balcony. One thing I especially like about this house is that the doors stay open unless you close them. I wish more houses did this, especially ones that are perfect for warmer weather.

Goodnight Moon

This sewing machine from Kuro makes me nostalgic. My mom had an antique sewing machine in RL when I was a little girl. I used to push the pedal (and then get yelled at when I got caught). The rug in this pic is from encore, too. I feel SL has a shortage of good rugs, especially ones you can resize, so the rugs from encore really made me happy!

All Sewn Up

This bed from Cheeky Pea is just adorable. I’m kind of obsessed with beds in SL, and this is one of my favorites ever.

Dragonfly Bedroom

Finally, this gorgeous table is from Senzafine. It’s inspired by Tolkien, and the detail on it is utterly spectacular. My picture frame from What Next has a shot of my youngest SL sister, Isley. The calendar from Cheeky Pea is set to August 31st because that’s Isley’s RL birthday. 🙂

Again, if you have any questions about anything, don’t hesitate to ask, here or on Flickr! I love comments.

Well, I’m off to decorate my next house… stay tuned.

Purposeful Pause

Hi lovelies! I have more to share with you from Love Donna Flora!

This adorable outfit is from Somnia for LDF. I paired it with hair from Truth, and my SLink barefeet because, well… it made me wanna run barefoot in the grass! My skin is the lovely Doll skin by Pink Fuel, also for LDF. This sweet little stone I am posed on is from Sway’s for LDF, and as you’ll see in another pic it says “Flora” on it. It has multiple poses, all of which are really cute. It’s a nice little reminder to stop to pause and just enjoy life.

Purposeful Pause

Few things make me feel more fabulously girly than pretty, sparkly nails… fingers or toes! I’m wearing the SLink nail appliers from A:S:S for LDF. They’re such cheery bright colors, and the sparkle is amazing.

Sparkly toes

Finally, you can see it in the other two pics, but here’s a better look at the Playground Roundabout What Next released at their mainstore recently. It’s utterly adorable, and comes in a lot of color varieties, as well as a ton of poses (for both large and small avs). There is also a version with a dirt base for those of you who live on the ground and want to landscape around it! If you click through to Flickr to see the image at full size, you can also get a better look at the stone from Sway’s in this pic.

Merry go 'round

Next, a few pics of various home decor items you can find at Love Donna Flora. This first pic features the gorgeous Pavone set from Kaerri. It’s a must have for all of you who love peacocks! The pieces are sold individually, or as a set, so you can customize to suit your needs.

Kaerri Pavone Set - Love Donna Flora

In this final pic, I’ve featured pieces from the Donna mini-set from Cobblestone. On the table (which is from What Next, and not part of the LDF event) is Donna’s Box, which is Kuro’s offering for LDF. This pretty little box comes with a variety of options, and is a unique piece! Click through to the pic and hover for notes on each item!

By the way, the house I shot those pictures in is from Barnesworth Anubis. You can still grab it at an amazing price for a few more days at the current round of Collabor88. It’s mesh, but unlike some mesh houses you can modify it to change the wall textures (which I did in the above pics).

A pirate flag & an island girl…

I have wanted to do my SL picture version of the Kenny Chesney song Pirate Flag since I first heard the song. When Kuro released this adorable raft, I knew I had found a way to do it!

A pirate flag & an island girl

My gorgeous bathing suit is from Valentina E. Couture, and the skin is one of the new Glam Affair Summer skins for the United Fashion Project. I’m not sure how long that event lasts, so be sure to head over and demo these skins. I love the Europa tone. I’m not usually so pale, but this skin is just stunning. There are four makeups and I love all of them (more to come soon).

Glam Affair - Summer in Europa for United Fashion Project

I shot both pics on the Crossing Currents sim. If you’ve never been, you owe yourself a visit! It’s truly spectacular.

There’s no place like home!

A while ago, I promised to show you more of what has become my favorite ever home in SL. This Lodge from Zacca has such a dreamy quality to it, and yet I can absolutely imagine a home like this existing in the real world. It makes me think of something you’d find in some old little village in the UK. I admit, this house was a challenge for me to decorate. I was fortunate that one of my friends told me about Dysfunctional Dolly Designs, which helped me keep some of the”old world meets new” vibe I wanted. This is the front of the house. My tulips are from Organica and I love how detailed they are.

Zacca Lodge

This next pic features a couple of items from the current round of FaMESHed. The hair from Exile combined with the adorable shoes from LaRoo inspired a look that made me think of Dorothy from The Wizard Of Oz. I love heels with socks, and I fell hard for these shoes. I had a really hard time debating a color, but ultimately went with one of the florals because it’s (nearly) summer and I wanted something summery! The odds are very high you’ll see these shoes again in a darker shade come autumn. My skirt is from DCNY and the top is from Coco, which was a “new to me” store. My look isn’t exactly identical to Dorothy’s, but rather just overall inspired by that.

This ain't Kansas...

Here’s a close up collage, of both the LaRoo shoes and the adorable Greymoon bag I’m holding. There are multiple colors and styles, and they are in a gacha, so you’ll have to try your luck to see which one you get! I’m wearing one of the Rares. It features art from Alice In Wonderland. Given all the recent hoopla over copyright and IP infringement, let me say first hand that the designer is a dear friend who researched thoroughly to make sure she was using art that is no longer under copyright. These bags are so cute, and they fit my mood. Maybe it may seem odd to mix Alice In Wonderland with something sort of Oz-ish, but I’ve been watching a lot of Once Upon A Time recently… so it felt perfectly fine to me!

No Place Like Home

Oh, and since my skin is one the new Pink Fuel Harley skins for The Arcade, I had to take a close up shot of it. I still need to go try to win the rare!

Pink Fuel Harley *Arcade*

Now, back to the house… you’ve seen the outside. Let me show you inside. This is what you see when you open the front door… this gorgeous window with the build in daybed (complete with poses) that looks out on the courtyard.

Zacca Window

My living room is decorated primarily with items from LISP. As always, you can click through on any of these pics and hover for notes on where each item comes from. If you want any specifics, just ask me!

Zacca Living Room

This house has two rooms, one of which I made a kitchen. Here are a few pics of that. I have to comment on the dining set because I coveted this set for months… and I finally caved and got it because nothing I had was right for this kitchen (or so I convinced myself). It’s from LAQ Decor and you get a bunch of colors. The table has rezzers and a ton of options for what to have out (if anything). There’s even a funky timer setting called Auto Clear, so you can have it set to de-rezz on its own!

Dining Area

Kitchen 2

Kitchen 1

The other of the two rooms I made into the bedroom, with space for reading and writing because I can’t not have books and pads or typewriters, even in a virtual world!

Bedroom

The typewriter in this collage pic is from Floorplan, and it’s one of the items you can snag at The Arcade. This is the rare floral version.

Bedroom Collage

If you’re looking for an unusual house, this is definitely one worth checking out. I am so in love with it that I’m having a bit of a tough time breaking it all down. I rarely stay attached to houses once I’ve decorated and photographed them, but this one is something pretty darn special.

Home & Garden Expo

The RFL 2013 Home & Garden Expo ends on June 2nd. This event raises money for the American Cancer Society.

I decided I wanted to do something a little different for this event. I wanted to set up an entire house with just items from the event. It took me about a week, but it’s finally done. I’ll be breaking this into 2 blog posts, and both will be image intensive, so I’m gonna try to not babble as much as I usually do.

The house I used is from By Dorian, and it’s called the Hope Cottage. Everything but my sky platform (from Inverse Designs) and a couple of the trees (from Forest Floor) can be found at the H & G expo. If you click through to Flickr and hover over the pics you can see where each item is from. If you have questions, feel free to ask!

By Dorian Hope Cottage H & G Expo

I love Dysfunctional Dolly Designs [DDD]. This grapevine trellis is so pretty. The cobblestones and planters are Barnesworth Anubis. I love stone walkways, so I knew I had to use these.

BA & [DDD] H & G Expo

The cluttered bookshelf in my entryway is one of the items from Second Spaces. The chair, the hat decor, wall rail and rug are all from Kuro (formerly L&K Prefabs). The jam jars are from Atelier Visconti, and the planter is from %.

Hope Cottage Entryway H & G Expo

This bed by Mudhoney is so, so cute, I couldn’t decide which version to show you. So I set up both in the bedroom of the Hope Cottage. The little house light is from Zigana. The nightstands and dolls are also Mudhoney, and the rug is Dreamscapes Decor.

Mudhoney & Zigana H & G Expo 1

This final pic is a collage of cute items from Cobblestone.

Part 2 coming tomorrow (or later today, depending on where you live)!
