Who doesn’t love (Fifty Linden) Fridays?

Even if Friday isn’t “your” Friday, who can resist some Fifty Linden Fridays goodness? I rarely do FLF posts because, truth be told, I’m a slow blogger. But I was inspired when I couldn’t sleep at 2 am, so… here ya go!

Girl Thursday is a new-to-me store that was part of this week’s FLF… and look! The tank/dress they are offering is so cute. It looks so comfy. There is a pair of leggings available, too, which included appliers for the Phat Azz, but I opted to pair it with these cute jeans Mon Tissu recently released. I find I am really picky about jeans in SL, and I love these. I also have a thing for cuffed pants in general, so that helped! The adorable pose I am using is one of Infiniti Poses’ releases for Pose Fair! You just wear the wands, and voila! Bubbles! My shoes are also a FLF item, this time from fri.day. Darling Monday has released a whole slew of new shoes for the SLink feet in her mainstore, so in addition to picking up these darling Venus heels for a L$50 steal, be sure to check out the other shoes.

Finally Friday

My skin is also new, and it is Glam Affair’s release for FLF! I love the Brandi line, so I had to go snag this one. My alts may need it, too! This hair is one of two new ones Truth released recently… unless you don’t use Flickr, you’ve undoubtedly seen the other one. It’s adorable with its cute rollers, but I love braids… and headbands (btw, you can hide the headband, as well as change the color, on this hair). So this was love at first strand for me. Yeah, I went there. My lovely manicure is courtesy of Mon Cheri for the Monochromatic Fair, and the gorgeous dragonfly jewelry I have on is from Cae for the current round of FaMESHed.

Bubbly Girl

I took both pics on Izzie’s sim, which is, as always, beautifully decorated and open to the public. Just drop by her mainstore and wander around… you’ll find lots of awesome little corners to take lovely pics and just relax and spend time!

Shoetopia is almost here!

Shoetopia has to be one of the year’s most highly anticipated events, and it opens later this week! This is a charity event that benefits Soles 4 Souls, and I’ve seen a preview of the build and it’s stunning. In addition to some of SL’s finest shoe creators, there is a gacha component (because we all need our gacha fix) that will feature a wide variety of items.

I know I am really exited about this event. In this post, I present to you one of the many items that will be available at Shoetopia when it opens November 15th. These adorable flats are from Sax Shepherd Designs, and they come in a wide variety of colors and texture options. They also have a version for SLink feet and a version for system feet, so those of you who aren’t SLink feet wearers can still buy these adorable shoes. They’re like what would result if a saddle shoe and a Mary Jane got together and had a baby. I’m a huge fan of both saddle shoes and Mary Janes, and so I just love these! I am wearing the SLink version, btw.

Shoetopia Preview: Sax Shepherd Designs

I recently bought this beautiful Barnesworth Anubis house at The Garden event (now out at the Mainstore). The minute I saw it, I knew I needed it. I love these rustic style homes, especially for autumn and winter, and I think this will be a lot of fun to decorate for the holidays. Right now you only get to see the outside because the inside, well… it’s cluttered (and not in a good way) with furniture and, uhm, moving boxes (hah).

I am wearing a sweatshirt from Mon Tissu that’s been on my personal “to buy” list for ages. I decided to treat myself to something (that wasn’t from an event, as has been the case so much lately), so I went and checked out my Wishlist to remind me of what I’ve been wanting. I don’t know if you’ve seen the SL Wishlist website, but it’s awesome. I find it an easier way to keep track of the things I want to buy in the future than using the Marketplace favorites list. If you don’t have one of these yet, check it out! With the holidays coming, it can be a helpful thing to use to help friends out with gift buying. I’ve been told more than a few times by my friends that they don’t ever know what to give me because of my blogging. I know it’s hard to shop for my fellow blogger friends, so I figured this is a cool, free and fun way to keep track of my future “must-haves” and if someone is generous enough to give me a gift off it, I’m very grateful. Chrome has an extension for it, and you just click a little box from the Marketplace page to add things to your list. It’s really handy when you’re browsing!

Finally, my new eyes are from A.D.D. Andel! I don’t typically wear mesh eyes. See, I have this nasty habit of wearing folders and I just know me… I’d wind up bald and stark naked with 20 pairs of eyes on. On top of that, I am the world’s fussiest person when it comes to SL eyes, and for ages now (probably well over a year) the only eyes I’ve liked are from IKON. But I have always thought that it might be fun to play with heterochromia, and have different colored eyes in SL. My RL great-grandmother had heterochromia, and she had one grey-blue and one hazel-brown eye. I always thought it was lovely, and I really think these eyes are, too. My gorgeous, adorable skin is Elvi from Glam Affair. This is a Collabor88 release. There are a lot of makeups available for Elvi, in the lovely America tone at the new round of Collabor88 so definitely check it out!

I will have more from Shoetopia soon! Be sure to check back.

More from Skin Fair!

If you haven’t been to Skin Fair yet, you still have time! The even runs through March 31st, so be sure to get there before it closes. Today I have two skins available at Skin Fair to show you. One thing I love about blogging events like Skin Fair is the chance to discover great stores I didn’t know before the event. I wasn’t familiar with either of these stores, but I will definitely be checking them out regularly now!

First up, from Anymore, is Hazel. This skin is so pretty and soft. It has a youthful feel, and I decided to capitalize on that with a quirky, semi-dorky look. My glasses are from Mon Tissu. The gorgeous necklace is from Cae and is called Sakura. It’s currently available at a new event called The Boutique, brought to you by The Liaison Collaborative. The eyes I am wearing in both of these looks are also a new item, from IKON, at The Boutique. Also, if you’re curious about the decor items, they are tagged with notes if you click through to Flickr, and you can feel free to ask questions.

Anymore Dorky

I paired the skin with hair from Exile, the adorable saddle shoes Tres Blah has out at Collabor88. A lot of people have complained the Tres Blah shoes were too expensive. I have to admit I hesitated when I saw the L$388 price tag on them, but I am a sucker for saddle shoes and these are so cute and unique. They are well done, and I am likely going to go back and grab another pair. No, they aren’t “cheap,” but the quality and creativity is very high, and that counts for a lot for me. My pants are from Greymoon and were available at The Outlet. I’m not sure if that round is over, but if it is, Lyssa usually releases her items in her mainstore after, so either way look for them! My top is so cute, right? It’s from One Bad Pixel’s recent release, and I am in love. It has a hud that lets you change the color of the belt and the shirt that’s under the sweater (just to clarify, it’s all one piece – you can’t wear just the sweater or just the shirt). I’m a sucker for any item that has this sort of control. It makes a piece so much more versatile and an “investment.” Oh, the cute pose in this pic is from Grafica and is part of their Pose Fair release called per donna! I’m excited for Pose Fair!

Anymore

The second skin I want to show you is from Envious. Bella is appropriately beautiful. I love the purple eyeshadow on this one. I love purple. The blushing cheeks on this skin inspired me to blog it as a bride! Plus, I’ll use any excuse to marry Rad again, even if it’s just for pics. 😀 The gorgeous gown I have on is from Sakide. The dress is mesh, but the lacey, sheer top part is a jacket layer you wear under it. The dress works without it, too. But I loved the look, it was so soft and detailed. I felt utterly feminine and girly wearing this gown!

Bridal fantasies

The gown has a secret, seductive side, though… and I had to be sure to show you that, too.

Now and forever

Finally, in this last pic you can see the LaGyo headband I have on with the alternate veiled option. It felt so retro and mysterious, so I knew I had to use it. I will warn you that I had some trouble finding hair that worked, and only came up with this LeLutka option after I saw the lovely Oakley Foxtrot wearing it with the same headband (so ty Oakley!).

I take thee

And last… I have to share this one, even though for blogging purposes you can’t really see anything. I just loved this WL so much, I had to snap the drama shot, too.

You are my dream

What can I say? Our RL/SL wedding anniversary is coming up (April 6th in both worlds)… I guess I was feeling sappy!

Mon Tissu Blogger Search Entry

When I heard that Mon Tissu was holding a contest to find a new blogger, I debated entering. There are so many truly amazing bloggers out there, and I knew the competition would be tremendous and fierce for this contest just from a quick glance at the Flickr group entries. Then I realized there is only one definite way to not win, and that’s by not trying. I hate failing because I was afraid to try, so I reframed my perspective. I adore Mon Tissu clothing. The detail work and quality is superb. I already had a lot of older pieces, and I’d been waiting to add some mesh pieces, and I decided to see this as an excuse to shop. After all, what kind of blogger would I be if I didn’t look for an excuse to shop?!?

I consider my style quirky. When I was a kid, I liked to wear colors that were considered to “not go together,” like red and purple. Fortunately, I was a child of the 80s, and often would wear something that later became a trend… but since I was seemingly always a step ahead, I was never considered “trendy” or “stylish.” I didn’t really care. I wore what I liked, what felt fun and comfortable to me. I’m often the same way in Second Life. I’ll show my best friend an outfit and before she can say anything, I’ll go… I know you hate it. She laughs and says it’s just not her style. 😉

For this look, I decided to pair the Heathrow boots I’ve been dying for since they were released with shorts, tights and a sweatshirt. I love the shorts with tights look. I do this look a lot in SL, especially in the autumn and spring months. I think of it as a transitional look that works nicely between seasons. I wanted to find bright, and naturally, unexpected colors. I wanted to do what I could to make my look pop against the many contenders, and it’s also just staying true to myself to come up with quirky color combos. The coral shorts with this sweatshirt that’s almost a pale aqua made me smile. First off, peach and aqua were the colors I chose for my high school graduation party. Secondly, they seem like perfect summer-into-fall colors. I bought the Heathrow boots in Ash, and to me they look sort of worn, and well loved in this color. It’s a brown, but not as dark as the chocolat (which I also love and want eventually), and I tossed on a pair of fuzzy JANE tights in champagne. I completed the look with Mon Tissu Readers in cream, and this adorable hair from Exile that I snagged back during the Hair Fair. I consider the overall look one of collegiate quirkiness! I feel smart, cute and sexy in that quirky way that makes celebs like Zooey Deschanel or Drew Barrymore famous.

I originally envisioned this picture being taken in a library. I love books, and as a future high school English teacher, I surround myself with them in real life and Second life as much as possible. I will share the library version with you, if only to show off a bit of the amazing library scene from Garden of Dreams. It’s lush, and I really want to get it some day when I have the prims to spare! I also need to say thank you to Kaelyn Alecto who was kind enough to offer to rezz me a copy of hers if I wanted to use it.

Study Time

In the end, though, I felt the picture wanted more. So I wandered to the Water Reserve sim (home of *emm shop & scribbled hearts) and found myself a dock by the water. I rezzed one of the Oslo Chairs from What Next for The Arcade, complete with a comfy blanket, and sat down to read. I used a pile of old books from Garden of Dreams as a makeshift table, made myself some cocoa to stave off the autumn chill, and I was all set. Here’s the finished work.

Mon Tissu Blogger Search Entry - Lucie Bluebird

I still do not expect to win against such a tremendous pool of talent, but I am really happy with how my final picture and my Mon Tissu look came out. I had a lot of fun, and feel I challenged myself with this entry. In the end, that means no matter what, I’ve won.
