No good can come of this

I have to confess something. In real life I despise shoes. I hate them with every fiber of my being. I resent having to wear them. I live in flip flops as long as I can get away with it. Or slip on clogs (that have no heel). Shoes and I have been enemies for many years. I’m blister prone and klutzy. I see shoes as foot prison. Boots are even worse because they trap part of the leg, too. And don’t even get me started on socks!

But in Second Life? I love shoes. LOVE. I think I live out all of my shoe fantasies here. When I saw the Gos Boutique Bonnie shoes for Shoetopia, I knew I’d found a pair I could not possibly pass on. I don’t typically think of Lucie as “badass” but gun shoes?! How could I not own these! The detail on these shoes is spectacular. You can also hide the bullet strap. And of course, like all Gos Boutique shoes, they have the easy color match system so you don’t need to spend hours trying to match your feet. Oh, and these pants are from from Cracked Mirror for FaMESHed and they do make quite the impression. My jacket is part of an outfit Sakide has at the Rockabilly Fashion Fair. It has a hud and a lot of options for metals and the back artwork.

No good can come of this

Here’s a better look! In this picture you can also see the gorgeous Bali anklet available from Cae’s Shoetopia gacha.

Remember, Shoetopia isn’t just the shoe shopping event of the season. It’s also a fundraiser for Soles 4 Souls, an organization that is helping, among others, the typhoon victims in the Philippines. This is a great charity, and it’s a chance to have fun shopping while also helping others.

Oh, the horror

Horrorfest 2013 opened this weekend! This timely event is not only full of fun, freaky goodies. It’s also a fundraiser for the Epilepsy Therapy Project. In addition to lots of awesome items for sale, and gachas Horrofest also features a hunt. For more info you can check out the official blog.

For Horrorfest, Infiniti Poses has an awesome gacha set called Victim featuring poses with chalk outlines. These also include cement slabs, so you can create your own “stage” for the pics. I went to PSY City to shoot mine, so I didn’t need the cement. My dress is Sakide’s donation item for Horrorfest. This dress has two versions, and I am wearing the shorter one. I’m also wearing the cute SLink compatible tights fri.day has for the Horrorfest hunt.

The Future Looks Bleak

Glam Affair has released “Horror” versions of three skins, including the popular Neva, Candy (which was Glam’s gorgeous Arcade skin) and their gorgeous brand new release Vera. In this post, I am wearing Candy Horror 02. These skins are available at the Mainstore, and include special appliers in the skin tone for all your SLink, Lolas and Phat Azz needs. My hair is the newly released Harley from Truth, and I love it. I have a thing for short styles, especially when they are all sexily mussed up like this one!

Oh, the horror

Be sure to check out Horrorfest before it ends for all your spooky fun Halloween needs.

A little bit of home…

I really enjoy decorating in SL. Maybe it’s because I’ve never really had the patience for it in RL, but whatever the cause, it’s a lot of fun. I wanted to share some of my “homestyle” with you.

This cute little building is the April Shed from L&K Prefabs. The furniture is also from L&K Prefabs, and it is texture change (which I love). Also, see the cute little table? Well, the fold down sides actually work! You can put both of them up or down, or just one as I’ve done for this pic. I loved tables like this in RL when I was a little girl. My great-grandmother had one and I used to call it the “magic table” because you could make it bigger. To me, it was endlessly cool and fascinating. What can I say, I was a strange kid! My top is from Sn@tch, and the adorable polka dot skirt is Sakide. My shoes are from Redgrave and you’ll see more of them in future posts, I’m sure. The hair is Truth.

April Shed

Next, is the inside of the Laurel Cottage from What Next. I’ve blogged some pics of this cottage before, but I wanted to show off the bedroom and the kitchen in particular. I have the What Next Laurel kitchen, which fits exactly perfectly in the Laurel Cottage.

Laurel Cottage Kitchen

This kitchen is also texture change. In fact, the Laurel Cottage has a cute little covered control panel and all of the walls have multiple color options. The house is also mod, so you can always texture it to suit your own needs as well. I retextured the bedroom so it would be purple. I love the French doors to the upstairs deck in the bedroom.

Laurel Cottage Bedroom

Also, the Laurel Cottage has these lovely stained glass windows. You can see them in this shot of the sitting area I set up in the bedroom.

For Aeva Heartsick

One of the things I love about Second Life is seeing how it can be a real community, one that comes together to help one of its members. The For Aeva Heartsick event is one of these times. Amesha Jewell, the owner of Aeva/Heartsick and an incredibly talented designer, relies on her computer for her RL income. Specifically, she relies on SL earnings. Unfortunately, her computer finally died. Amesha’s been making a very long commute to her parents’ home as needed in order to get some work done, but friends wanted to help her out and organized a fundraiser to help offset, if not cover, the costs of replacing her computer. You can read more about the event here. There’s a wide variety of offerings to be had, and here I am featuring just a few of my favorites.

First, this new skin from Aeva highlights Amesha’s talents so perfectly. It also shows her dedication, given she did this work at her parents’ home so she could offer something at the fundraiser herself. Lyric has amazing eyes, don’t you think? There are other skins available, too, including some fantasy skins. Each skin is only L$100 and includes appliers for Puffy, Lolas and Lush breasts. Also, an added bonus… there are mesh feet in each skin box! So, if you’ve wanted some prettier feet but not wanted to spend the L on them, this is a great way to get a pair that match the skin exactly. The lipstick I have on is an add-on from Aeva and you get multiple colors for just L$75. I am wearing a necklace from Collisions that is also available at the FAH event. My beautiful ring is Cae’s Alchemy ring (at the birthday round of FaMESHed). Like all of Cae’s jewelry it has multiple gem and metal options, which I love.

Lyric (Aeva Skin)

When I saw this new hair from LoQ, I knew I wanted it. I love how summery it feels. Somehow it manages to be both messy and elegant at the same time! My dress is from Sakide, and is another FAH item. It comes in three color choices, but the black and white was my favorite. I paired it with my Gos Boutique espadrilles and felt the look was complete.

For Aeva Heartsick Event

This is a lovely event designed to help a fellow SLer who happens to be an absolute sweetheart and an incredible talent. So, why not hop over and have a look? Maybe you’ll find something a “must have” item and help a member of our community at the same time! The event runs through May 14th, so be sure to check it out before it’s over!

More from Skin Fair!

If you haven’t been to Skin Fair yet, you still have time! The even runs through March 31st, so be sure to get there before it closes. Today I have two skins available at Skin Fair to show you. One thing I love about blogging events like Skin Fair is the chance to discover great stores I didn’t know before the event. I wasn’t familiar with either of these stores, but I will definitely be checking them out regularly now!

First up, from Anymore, is Hazel. This skin is so pretty and soft. It has a youthful feel, and I decided to capitalize on that with a quirky, semi-dorky look. My glasses are from Mon Tissu. The gorgeous necklace is from Cae and is called Sakura. It’s currently available at a new event called The Boutique, brought to you by The Liaison Collaborative. The eyes I am wearing in both of these looks are also a new item, from IKON, at The Boutique. Also, if you’re curious about the decor items, they are tagged with notes if you click through to Flickr, and you can feel free to ask questions.

Anymore Dorky

I paired the skin with hair from Exile, the adorable saddle shoes Tres Blah has out at Collabor88. A lot of people have complained the Tres Blah shoes were too expensive. I have to admit I hesitated when I saw the L$388 price tag on them, but I am a sucker for saddle shoes and these are so cute and unique. They are well done, and I am likely going to go back and grab another pair. No, they aren’t “cheap,” but the quality and creativity is very high, and that counts for a lot for me. My pants are from Greymoon and were available at The Outlet. I’m not sure if that round is over, but if it is, Lyssa usually releases her items in her mainstore after, so either way look for them! My top is so cute, right? It’s from One Bad Pixel’s recent release, and I am in love. It has a hud that lets you change the color of the belt and the shirt that’s under the sweater (just to clarify, it’s all one piece – you can’t wear just the sweater or just the shirt). I’m a sucker for any item that has this sort of control. It makes a piece so much more versatile and an “investment.” Oh, the cute pose in this pic is from Grafica and is part of their Pose Fair release called per donna! I’m excited for Pose Fair!

Anymore

The second skin I want to show you is from Envious. Bella is appropriately beautiful. I love the purple eyeshadow on this one. I love purple. The blushing cheeks on this skin inspired me to blog it as a bride! Plus, I’ll use any excuse to marry Rad again, even if it’s just for pics. 😀 The gorgeous gown I have on is from Sakide. The dress is mesh, but the lacey, sheer top part is a jacket layer you wear under it. The dress works without it, too. But I loved the look, it was so soft and detailed. I felt utterly feminine and girly wearing this gown!

Bridal fantasies

The gown has a secret, seductive side, though… and I had to be sure to show you that, too.

Now and forever

Finally, in this last pic you can see the LaGyo headband I have on with the alternate veiled option. It felt so retro and mysterious, so I knew I had to use it. I will warn you that I had some trouble finding hair that worked, and only came up with this LeLutka option after I saw the lovely Oakley Foxtrot wearing it with the same headband (so ty Oakley!).

I take thee

And last… I have to share this one, even though for blogging purposes you can’t really see anything. I just loved this WL so much, I had to snap the drama shot, too.

You are my dream

What can I say? Our RL/SL wedding anniversary is coming up (April 6th in both worlds)… I guess I was feeling sappy!

50 Shades Of Sexy

So, the lovely Shiloh Selene issued a challenge for the year called 50 Shades Of Sexy. As a 50 Shades Of Grey hater, I was all in favor of proving that we in SL know sexy in ways that would blow the mind of that book’s author. The thing is… I’m not exactly known for doing “sexy” pics. Oh, here and there I’ve dabbled a bit, but my erm, “bits” always stay covered. I know, I know. I’m a prude by SL standards.

But I really wanted to attempt this challenge, and see… can I get through 50 rounds of being sexy my way? Well, week one had a theme of Cotton Candy. The timing was perfect, since Perfect Wardrobe’s theme right now is one related to Candy, and Sakide had out their glam dresses in fun, candy inspired colors.

Of course, we’re sort of programmed to hear “cotton candy” and think “pink, fluffy, spun sugar.” But cotton candy doesn’t have to be pink! In fact, my inner rebel was born pretty much when I was, and as a little girl I strongly resented the notion that since I was a girl I was automatically supposed to like pink. In fact, I spent years hating pink just out of spite. I’m honestly still not a huge fan, but I’ve learned pink has its place! However, part of my anti-pink rebellion meant that I never got pink cotton candy!!! I always went for the blue or, preferably (though harder to find), the pale purple. So, for my Cotton Candy pic, I went with Sakide’s vintage glam dress in lavender. I’d been seeing floorplan’s Chair De Lune piece all over Flickr and finally had to get it. I love anything with moons or stars. The cute little pallet shelf is from What Next, and it comes with the candles and books you see. My skin is the new Belleza, Ava, in medium. This skin is utterly gorgeous, and I bought 0, which is the bare one. I usually don’t get bare skins, but this is one of the prettiest I’ve seen. I tend to like at least having eyeshadow options. I did buy the lipstick fatpack so I can glam it up, but a closeup of this skin is soon to come. My shoes are the Alex heels from G Field. I love these shoes a lot, and my only gripe is I wish they didn’t have a boot fixer you can’t turn off because it can ruin poses. But I didn’t let that stop me from buying like 5 different colors, so obviously it’s not a deal breaker! The thigh high stockings are from Izzie’s, and my hair is Stay The Night, one of the newest Exile releases. It’s funny because I didn’t expect to like this hair, but when I demo’d it, it whispered seductively in my ear, Lucie… you neeeeed me.

Cotton Candy...

This is my very first pic using the LumiPro Hud, which my husband bought me as a Christmas gift. It’s really exciting because it means I can have shadows in my skybox by using the projector option. If you’re curious about LUMIPro, check out their site. If you want to participate in the 50 Shades challenge, you’ll find all the details – along with all 50 prompts – here!

PS. I usually do my credits after the post, but I’m nursing a broken foot and feeling a tad lazy, so I worked them all into the post. If I missed something or you have a question, just leave a comment or contact me in world. 🙂

Three for the price of One…

So, I am a bit behind. As a result, you get a special Three for the price of One blog post from me! First on the agenda, Week Four of Raid Your Closet.

I love autumn clothes. I love layers and tights and jackets. I also love the “smart, but sexy” look, which is what I was going for with this week’s RYCC. I paired this cute skirt from Blueberry with a blazer by House of Fox that I grabbed from the last round of Collabor88. I added some fuzzy tights from JANE, these adorable not-quite-boots shoes from G Field, a sketchbook from Elymode and my Gos Intuition glasses and considered myself good to go. Oh, and the super sexy but softly feminine t-shirt under my blazer is from Sleeping Koala. Anyone who thinks textured clothes are a thing of the past needs one of these t-shirts. The detail work is incredible and they are perfect for layering!

Book Smart

Next up… The Black Market! I loved this outfit from Sakide for The Black Market. It’s really cute, sexy and girly. I paired it with a recent shoe release from Severed Garden. These Nana pumps have a hud and there are so many color combinations. They are some crazy high heels, but that is offset by how freakin’ cute they are! The sheer tights are a new release from Izzie’s. I was absolutely thrilled with this release because I’ve been dying for some “pantyhose” type tights.

Feigned Innocence

The stunning skin is the newly released Jaci from Aeva. Though the Bare and Belle Amie versions have been out for a few weeks, Amesha recently released the full makeup line. This soft, delicate and perfectly autumnal makeup is called Chocolat. My jewelry set is Enchanted from Cae, and it’s so pretty. It’s texture change with multiple metal options. For this look I used the rose gold metal.

Aeva Jaci 01 - Chocolat

Next, a bit of homestyle. I used my Anastasia Autumn skybox again for this pic. The chair is from Mudhoney for The Outlet and comes in several color options. I used the teal because I liked the unexpected splash of color. The leather sofa is from WM, also for The Outlet. It’s texture change, and includes an option you can tint. The bookcase and pile of books is by FD Decor for The Black Market. Like the sofa & chair, this is also mesh. I was exhausted from standing in those heels, so I plopped on the Emma chair to relax.

Autumn Living Room

That’s all from me for now. Soon I’ll have more from Cinema!
