Kick Up Your Heels!

I love the chance to discover a new store. My friend, the lovely and talented Caelan Hancroft, recently opened her jewelry store Cae. I absolutely love the elegant designs she’s creating. Plus, all of her pieces are texture change and have a wide variety of options. I love options. I was beyond honored when asked to model one of these sets, and you can see Cae’s work at her mainstore on the Truth District. You’ll also see one of her sets up close and personal in this post! Here’s a look at pieces from the Knotted set. I usually only wear silver/platinum/white gold… but I really like Cae’s copper, rose gold and even her gold tones. Here, I’m wearing the tri-color option this set has.

Tied Up In Knots

I also have another new discovery to share with you… the adorable ankle boots I’m wearing in this next pic are from a new store called chillie. Right now, chiilie is only on Marketplace, and you can visit their MP store here. These boots come in two types of leather, but I am wearing the suede version in my pic. Each pair is texture change. You can change the heel cap, the heel, the sole and the boot itself. It makes these boots very versatile and a great deal, since you get more than one pair of shoes in, well, one pair of shoes! Plus, I love texture change shoes because they help cut down on your inventory.

My skirt and jacket are more Valentina E. Couture items (I might be a touch obsessed with this store). My adorably sexy t-shirt is from Sleeping Koala. There are people who will claim there’s no longer a need for texture clothing, but I am not one of them. First of all, I love layering and it’s often easier with a texture layer than trying to layer mesh pieces. But secondly, some clothes are meant to fit like a second skin, and this top is definitely among those items. I’m also wearing a pair of sheer stockings from Izzie’s, further proving a need for texture clothes!

Continuing with Pose Appreciate Week, I am featuring poses from my very favorite SL pose creator… and yes, I may be biased since he happens to be my husband (in RL and SL) Radagast Lexington. In all honesty, when we opened our store Embody, I attempted to make poses. It’s not as easy as some might believe. Creating poses that don’t break the avatar mesh, that have realistic physics and that are still all the things you want in a pose is a rather major challenge. Fortunately, there are people more talented than I who create poses for us to use!

Kick Up Your Heels

Finally, here’s a good closeup of the gorgeous new Laina skin from Adam n Eve. I wanted a close up that would show off the adorable dimples. I love dimples, but they are hard to do well in SL, it seems. This skin has a tattoo add on for them, and I think they’re perfect. Also, steal another look at that gorgeous necklace and earrings from Cae! My stunning eyes are part of the new Eternal line at IKON.

Sunday Selections

I have 3 looks for you for this post… a combination of Vintage Fair & the Wash Cart Sale. First up, Ingenue for Vintage Fair.

I fell in love with the Greta dress right away. The hardest part was picking which color because there were a lot of options, but I had to go with Songbird. I paired it with this Free As A Bird pendant from Caroline’s. I already had this before Vintage Fair, but you can find it in her Vintage Fair booth, too! It’s pretty and was a perfect match. The earrings are a recent Lazy Sunday offering from Addiction, a jewelry store I really love that is also part of Vintage Fair, and the gorgeous hair is a recent new release from Truth called Soleil.

I paired the dress with one of my favorite pairs of Gos shoes. I felt pretty and elegant, but not overly fussy.

I feel pretty...

My next look made me feel so… bad girl! By SL standards it’s really pretty tame, but I’m rarely one for animal prints and I’m kind of prude with my pixels sometimes. But I just loved this mesh bikini from Souffle for Vintage Fair, and this Alice Project hair from Vintage Fair was a great match. I added some jewelry by me. for Vintage Fair, my new mesh feet from Pixel Mode (which I’m just loving, btw), and took myself to the beach!

All that sunbathing was hard work, and by late afternoon, I needed a little nap…

Seaside Siesta

My final look features a mesh dress from Sleeping Koala for the Wash Cart Sale. This dress is so cute, and I really just loved it the second I put it on. I threw on Wasabi Pills hair that, while not a new release, is at Vintage Fair and headed to The Grounds to take the pics. I knew I wanted to be near water. I don’t know why, but this dress made me think of the end of summer, especially when I added the Lola Summer hair with its cute little bandana. Again, I’m barefoot! I love being barefoot in RL, and since I love my new feet so much in SL, I’ve been spending lots of time that way here, too.

Summer's Edge

This cute ring with the duckie is from Glow Studio for Vintage Fair. It’s part of a full set with earrings and a necklace and comes in purples (as pictured), silver and gold.

Goodbye To Summer

I hope you’re having an amazing weekend!

Vintage Bride & Retro Swimsuit Model!

One of the things I love about being a blogger and getting to preview events like Vintage Fair is that I am discovering items from stores I wouldn’t otherwise have been likely to check out. This gorgeous mesh gown – a 20s inspired wedding gown, to be exact – is one such creation. The poses are from MotionLess Poses, also part of Vintage Fair.

Vintage Bride

Burst of red

The bridal headband also includes an option without a veil. This is a gown that could definitely be worn for other formal events, and not just as a wedding dress. This absolutely stunning Jaci skin from Aeva//Heartsick was a perfect match for this gown, and it is also available at the Vintage Fair. I’ve always admired the work of Amesha Jewell, and I think she’s really outdone herself with her Vintage Fair skins!

Aeva (Heartsick)

Another incredibly gorgeous skin from Aeva//Heartsick is Phoebe. This makeup option – like all the Vintage Fair skins from Aeva//Heartsick – is exclusive to this event, so if you like any of these, be sure to grab them during the event. Once it’s over, the full lines of these new faces will be released, but not these makeups! I wore the version with freckles for this second look. I kept thinking this skin reminded me of someone famous, and eventually I figured out that the version with freckles made me think of a young Lara Flynn Boyle. I decided to use this skin for my retro swimsuit model look. The poses are from Status Poses and are also Vintage Fair items, as is the simply adorable swimsuit from Sleeping Koala.

Retro Swimsuit Model

The hair in this look is from Alice Project, and it’s actually the very first mesh hair I ever bought. It’s not a Vintage Fair item, but it fit the look so perfectly you’d think otherwise!

Pinup Girl

That’s all for now… more soon. My internet is being a brat (to say the least), so I’m cranking these out as fast as I can.

Vintage Fair Preview!

It’s almost here! Chic Management’s Vintage Fair 2012 opens in just 2 days. I was beyond excited to be chosen as one of the bloggers for this event, and the sneak peeks I’ve had have just blown me away. The build is spectacular, and so well laid out. It’s nice and easy to navigate, and I say this being someone who is easily lost in either world!

I apologize in advance because I am probably not going to be blogging much else but Vintage Fair for the next week or so! I just have so much amazing stuff to share with you all. This event is being sponsored by Aura, Belleza, Cheeky Pea, coldLogic, Gizza Creations, Indyra Originals, PurpleMoon Creations, oOo Studio and Trompe Loeil, and it is three sims big! There’s also a photo contest for the event, the details of which you can read about here.

I had to start my Vintage Fair blogging with the 80s. As a “child of the 80s,” it’s a time period I remember well, and I loved the bright colors and crazy, wacky styles then and I still do now! Of course, I’m not entirely thrilled to think that my childhood clothing would be considered “vintage,” but alas, I will somehow manage to cope with that reality. I’m starting with Izzies & Lush. The Jem sweatshirt is from Lush. I absolutely loved the show Jem as a kid (I’ll try not to obsess over how many of my SL friends weren’t yet born when I was watching this show!), so when I saw this top I knew I had to blog it. It’s Truly Outrageous, after all.

Truly Outrageous (Lush & Izzie's)

The skin is from Izzies, as are the nails and awesome shiny leggings. This is the Eliza skin in Sunkissed and there are 3 makeup versions for 80s Eliza. I’m wearing the purple here. Also from Izzie’s, and available as a gift at Vintage Fair, the headband (which is texture change) and the mesh bangles. The top is part of an outfit available that is called Flashdance, and the look does just scream Flashdance!

Flashbacks... er, Flashdance!

The zebra print gown in this second look reminds me a prom dress that was worn by the older sister of a friend to her 1985 prom. The gown is from Envy Me, and I believe it is a Vintage Fair exclusive color. This pose is one of a pack of five from Sleeping Koala, also available at Vintage Fair.

Envy Me Vintage Fair

The gorgeous skin in this look is Selene from Aeva (aka Heartsick – I believe they are rebranding). It’s absolutely stunning, isn’t it? I love the smokey eyes, and if blue eyeshadow doesn’t scream 80s, well… I didn’t have a My Little Pony sleeping bag!

Aeva (Heartsick) Selene

I have lots more to come from Vintage Fair. Stay tuned.

One Voice

As much of the Grid knows by now, Gala Phoenix, the incredibly talented owner of Curio, is dealing with every creator’s worst nightmare. Her legal fees to sort out this unbelievable mess are expected to be somewhere in the range of $20k… and yes, that’s in dollars, not Lindens. Gala, like many creators, relies on SL as her main source of income.

I have long loved Curio skins. I own about 7 Curio fatpacks, and I have alts that wear her skins, too. I’ve used them in a bunch of shape ads, and they’re often the skins worn in our pose ads, as well. Needless to say, I am deeply saddened by what Gala’s gone through. It is especially horrible given that this started when she tried to stand up for her brand. There are now other creators who say that Hush is using parts of their skins, but I wonder how many will feel like they can take the chance to file a DMCA on Hush, given what happened when Gala did so back in March. Meanwhile, Hush is still open for business, while Curio is not.

But here’s the positive side of this atrocious mess… some very talented designers have come together to donate their own work and profits to help Gala’s legal fund. This isn’t just about Gala. It’s about the entire community of legitimate, hardworking Second Life designers. It could be anyone dealing with what Gala has had to handle in the past months. This event is called One Voice, and it opens on July 9th and runs through July 16th. What began as an intimate gathering of Gala’s friends and fellow creators, to be held on the Truth District sim, quickly blossomed into a major event… one so large it will now have its own sim. This is the good part of Second Life. This is a community coming together to help raise awareness of this horrific situation, and also to help Gala cover her legal expenses so that she can fight for her brand, for her many years of hard work. The event is called One Voice, and all the vendors will be donating 50-100% of their sales to Gala Phoenix to help her through this challenging time.

one.voice logo 512

Some have questioned why anyone wants to help Gala. Some have said she should’ve known better than to rely solely on Second Life for her income. Some feel this detracts from the Second Life community raising money for more “legitimate” causes. If you’re one of those, please do not comment on this post. I moderate comments and I will delete any negative ones. This is an amazing event. The designers participating all understand that it could just as easily be any of them going through this, and they’ve chosen – of their own free will – to help Gala. How anyone could justify being negative about such an awesome display of support for a fellow creator is beyond me.

And now… without further ado, I’d like to present the first set of pics I’ve taken using items that will be available at One Voice when it opens to the public on July 9, 2012.

One Voice - Listen

This post is significant. This is literally the first time since I joined SL in 2009 that I’ve ever worn a shape I did not make. My RL husband and I joined together, but I had registration issues. It was several days before I was able to join and by then, he’d figured out how to modify his default shape. He taught me how, and so from my first day in Second Life, I’ve always and only worn shapes I made myself (even when I so shouldn’t have, heh). Embody was born partly out of that… I was making so many shapes for fun, it became a business. Rad even gave me a name for my SL profession, and I’m therefore a professional “Shapestress.”

But it is hard to get shapes blogged, even when they are for charity events. I know because we’ve used shapes in charity events, and the times they were actually blogged were few. I get that. Bloggers get really attached to their shapes. Non-bloggers do, too! Even I was hesitant to try mesh for a long time because of the whole “Idonotwannachangemyshape” aspect of mesh. So, I get it, but it also made me really want to blog a shape from the event if one of the designers was generous enough to share them with the bloggers.

So, I’m stepping outside of my comfort zone to blog this shape from Anna’s Shapes. I actually think it’s a very cute shape, and obviously if I’ve always worn my own, I’m bound to be picky. It’s dramatically different from my own “style,” which I think is cool. I mean, if I am going to blog someone else’s shape, it may as well be one that steps outside the boundaries of my usual look!

I paired the shape with this skin from Al Vulo, which is also part of the One Voice event. The dining set is from Adoration Home & Garden, and it’s really cute. There are a variety of place setting options to choose from, and you can rezz food using the placemats. There’s also a pose that’s hilarious called “drunk” and I definitely recommend trying that one out. It’s animated, and a static picture just can’t do it justice, but I laughed really hard when I saw it! Here’s a prelude to that pose, though… I do love some white wine!

One Voice - Share

The dress is from Sleeping Koala, and will be available at the One Voice event. It’s so darn cute, but the back detail in particular is spectacular. I love detailed back work like this… and I definitely wanted to highlight Evie’s talent. I am so impressed by Ms. Evelyn Hartshon. She works so hard, and she’s so dedicated. Not just to her work as a designer, but just in general, in building an SL community and I really admire her for that! I paired Evie’s pretty dress with a gorgeous jewelry set from Sax Shepherd Designs.

One Voice - Stand Up

More soon from this event… and thank you to the designers who were generous enough to share their work with the bloggers. It does help to spread the word when we’re able to promote events in advance of them even opening!

The Golden Peen Of Glory…

Okay, so initially I was only vaguely aware of the gift that the lovely Strawberry Singh had sent to the sweet Harlow Heslop. But the my dear friend (and fellow Venutian chicken creature lover) Lindsay showed me sneak peeks of her challenge pics that this gift had inspired. And thus, my desire to partake in Harlow’s Golden Peen contest was born. But I can’t do these sorts of things without a great deal of thought and (I like to think) creativity, so here is the “story” of the Golden Peen of Glory.

Rosalie Bouscario and I were walking on a beach. It was a lovely day… the weather was perfect. I was wearing my cute pink halter bikini from Sleeping Koala, and she had on her skimpy Hyper Culture bikini from days long past (she’s just bragging about how she can still wear it, tbh). We looked as hot as we felt in the summer sun. So, we wandered to the water’s edge, with every intention of taking a dip to cool off. Suddenly, we saw a giant, glowing, golden silhouette. We couldn’t quite make out what it was, so we wandered closer. Much to our amazement, it was a giant golden penis!

Baffled, but oddly enchanted we felt compelled to bow before it in worship. After all, this must be a gift from the gods. Maybe a sex god… but I digress. We felt it was only proper to show respect to the Golden Peen of Glory. We took our positions before its shimmering lust inspiring sparkle and I captured the moment forever in this picture.

Golden Peen Contest

But I was too enchanted. I wanted too much, too deeply. I sneaked back to the beach after Rosa had logged for the night. I took the Golden Peen of Glory home (lemme tell ya, carrying that thing wasn’t easy… thank the gods for TPs). We bonded over popcorn. Yes, I said popcorn. I sat it down on my adorable Cheeky Pea sofa, and we snuggled. We became very close that night. It was truly special…

Golden Peen Contest

And then Rosa surreptitiously came back online and popped in for a visit… and caught me in the act (of sharing popcorn, you pervs!). I was horrified and deeply ashamed. But really, what girl could resist the urge to better know this gift of the gods? Can you blame me?

Golden Peen Contest

But Rosa convinced me that a Golden Peen of Glory is not meant to be kept captive… so I returned it to the sea, and with a prayer of thanks to the gods that had blessed us with such a miracle, said goodbye. It was a sad moment, but I understand that this is one golden phallus that I just can’t keep (erm, not that I’ve ever kept a gold phallus or anything like that).

Golden Peen Contest

So long, my glittering friend… I will miss your shiny, sexy siren’s song.

PS. The facts of this story may be slightly exaggerated and altered for the sake of entertainment. No penises were harmed in the making of this blog post. Also, you can get your own full perms, Golden Peen of Glory here for just L$15!

Culture Shock – Part 2

This one is gonna be quick, since I am about to go out in RL… but I wanted to share some more of what can be found at Culture Shock!

In this first pic, I paired an adorable summer dress from Sleeping Koala with this awesome oversized hat (also from SK). Threw on my favorite summer sandals from Gos and found a pretty place to sit by the water! This dress comes in a bunch of awesome summer color combos, but the paisley was my favorite!

Culture Shock Take 2

For the second look, I wanted to zoom in so you could see this pretty Free As A Bird necklace from Caroline’s Jewelry. This is also at Culture Shock, and I just loved it. I left the image basically unedited. Just cropped it and made a few minor tweaks, but I wanted to be sure the necklace was easily visible. This adorable hair is also from CS, by Wasabi Pills and I’ll likely be wearing it again for another look I hope to post tomorrow!
